This position is at the Optical Systems Branch, Atlantic Range Instrumentation Division, of the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD), located in Patuxent River, Maryland. The selectee will work in a laboratory setting researching, analyzing, and evaluating imaging technology, image sensors, and imaging equipment.
You must be a US Citizen. Must be registered for Selective Service, see Legal & Regulatory Guidance. Suitable for Federal employment as determined by background investigation. Selectee may be required to successfully complete a probationary period. You must obtain and maintain a security clearance.
Conduct research regarding the most current imaging technology to meet project specifications.
Use image processing software such as ImageJ, and MATLAB (matrix laboratory) to evaluate image sensors owned, and image sensors being considered for purchase to determine best quality, price, and suitability to meet test mission(s) requirements.
Write technical reports and materials using typesetting software such as LaTeX (high-quality typesetting system which produces technical programming language) to document information/findings for current and future project needs.
Work with counterparts in the Digital Imager Test and Evaluation Committee (DITEC) to share advances in research to assist with producing the optimum imaging equipment to meet project goals.

BASIC REQUIREMENT
You must have a degree from an accredited college in Operations Research; or completed a 4-year course of study from an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's degree with at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics. (NOTE: At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must have been in calculus.) Transcripts must be provided.
MINIMUM QUAILIFICATIONS
In addition to meeting the basic requirements; Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of progressive specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities, to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience must demonstrate most or all of the following: (1) assist with conducting laboratory analysis of imaging equipment to determine if it meets project requirements; (2) use various information technology software applications to compile, organize, and synthesize laboratory data into reports and presentations; (3) use researched and analyzed laboratory data to assist in determining most suitable equipment/components for project goals.

Have two full years of graduate level study, or possess a master's or higher degree, e.g., Ph.D., in a field that provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities to do the work of the position. GRADUATE EDUCATION: One academic year of graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that your graduate school has determined to represent one academic year of full-time study. Such study may have been performed on a full-time or part-time basis. If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement. You must submit a copy of your transcripts.
OR
Possess a combination of Graduate level Education and Specialized Experience that when added together equal 100% of the requirement. You must submit a copy of your transcripts.
SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTOR
This position has a Selective Placement Factor needed in order to qualify. The Selective Placement Factor is experience in a laboratory environment using optical equipment needed to characterize digital image sensors. Failure to possess this factor WILL result in an ineligible rating. Possession of this factor must be verifiable in your resume.

This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) and requires additional education, training, and experience. Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
