The Department of Defense Domestic Dependent Elementary and Secondary Schools (DDESS) is currently accepting applications under examining authority of 10 U.S.C., Section 2164. This position may be used for the purpose of filling multiple positions throughout the school year. Temporary positions may be converted to permanent without further competition, but conversion is not guaranteed.
This position is an Educational Aide with the Department of Defense Domestic and Dependent Elementary School (DDESS). The Educational Aide assists teachers and other professional educators in instructional programs and classroom learning and activities to include monitoring students during lunch. May be assigned to work in classroom, media center, health clinic or school office.
This is an Excepted Service Position.

Distributes testing materials, instructs students concerning test, collects test materials, grades tests through application of identified scoring techniques, and provides testing results profile. Prepares instructional materials related to class lessons. Provides additional instruction to selected students. Supervises independent study, computer labs, and learning resource centers. Provides tutoring assistance to students and assists students with make-up work. Makes arrangements for field trips, guides students during field trips, maintains discipline during field trips. Monitors students on playground, in hallways, restrooms, cafeteria, and bus loading areas before and after school. Assists teacher in classroom by distributing/collecting items such as tests, homework, and handouts. Performs recordkeeping, routine filing, and keeping classroom neat and tidy. Assists in maintaining security and conservation of equipment and materials. Use technology, communication devices, software programs for instruction and recordkeeping. Assists students with accessing computer programs, monitoring, and keeping students on task. May be assigned to students with special needs which may include diapering, tube feeding, dressing, transferring to and from toilet to chair, and spoon/bottle feeding. May also assist student with special training devices such as touch-screen computers or equipment for the hearing, visually, or physically impaired. Applicants must possess: one year general experience; or two years post-high school level education; or a combination of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements.
General Experience is defined as knowledge of working with children of all ages in a school, day care center or similar setting, to include the ability to effectively communicate with children, the ability to monitor student activity in various school locations and situations, enforce safety rules, and maintain order and discipline and/or progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled.
Post-high school level education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school. Must meet OPM minimum qualification standards to be considered for this position. Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
