Our client is seeking a Sr. Mechanical Engineer with a strong systems background to assist their growing development team. The successful candidate will be self-directed with a demonstrated ability to lead a product development project and/or small team.Responsibilities include the design and development of new and improved opto-mechanical tools for the medical & surgical markets. Projects will include devices within the field of MIS (minimally invasive surgery) and endoscopic test equipment.

Experience:
Perform product development tasks in accordance with ISO 13485 and 9001:
Provide team leadership and assume ownership of projects from concept through launch
Function as Project Engineer; coordinate and integrate interdisciplinary team-wide efforts
Identify internal or customer-driven design requirements and generate engineering specifications
Perform new product development and provide engineering design solutions
Produce engineering models and drawings using SolidWorks
Perform core engineering tasks such as analysis, tolerancing, material selection, risk analysis and FMEA
Build, produce and procure models, concepts, prototypes and samples for testing and evaluation
Develop product processes to optimize Design for Manufacturability
Develop and execute test protocols and generate associated reports
Develop and maintain Design History Files in accordance with established Product Development Processes
Participate, as appropriate, in in-vivo, in-vitro studies, surgeries, industry conferences, and other product development related activities
Participate and lead design transfer activities
Perform basic time/project management activities
Required Knowledge/Abilities:
Demonstrated success in leading product development projects from concept through commercialization
Prior experience with medical device design and development
Basic knowledge of relevant manufacturing processes and materials
Proficient with solid modeling; experience with SolidWorks preferred
Proficient with Microsoft Office applications preferred, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project
Understanding of IEC 60601 requirements; 3rd Ed. Preferred
Experience with Small/Micro design, very tight tolerances
Experience in the design and development of Electro-mechanical devices
Experience with medical imaging (visual light), specifically as related to endoscopes, cameras, illumination, etc. is highly desirable
Basic knowledge of optical engineering and precision manufacturing is preferred
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or other related Engineering disciplines and 7 years relevant design experience, OR advanced degree in Mechanical or other related Engineering discipline and 5 years relevant design experienceEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
