As a member of Manduka's management team, the VP of Marketing participates in the strategic planning process (functioning as the brand steward), lending specific expertise in customer definition; competitive assessment; and segmentation strategies to drive revenue and brand recognition.
Additionally, this position partners with managers in Sales, Operations, Finance and Product Development to drive an integrated execution of company's strategic initiatives.
Responsibilities:
Lead brand strategy; build the Marketing Plan and Budget consistent with the company-wide strategic initiatives; and oversee resourcing, execution and measurement of all components of the company's global marketing mix.
Oversee the Company's ecommerce business, involving P&L responsibility.
Be accountable for synthesizing brand architecture; unique brand positioning and personality; value propositions across customer/client groups; key messages; and brand narrative and voice.
Maintain responsibility for department budgets, including capital budgeting jointly with Finance; Calendar, integrated with Company/season planning; project economics/ROI; and planning the placement and development of brand communications/experience that best convey and connect brand attributes to Manduka's existing and scalable customer groups.
Build a comprehensive team internally, and oversee the development and management of contracted resources such as PR and other creative agencies, including deal structures governing vendor relationships; writing creative briefs and contributing to client briefs; building marketing partnerships with industry leaders; and establishing department process and policies, KPIs, ongoing research and reporting methods.
Hire, develop, motivate and provide leadership to direct reports, department members and external resources in a way that facilitates a collaborative work environment, ensuring that appropriate skills exist within the organization, enabling staff members to develop personally and professionally while fulfilling the department's operating objectives, and supporting Manduka's mission and core values.
Requirements:
Minimum seven years experience in a product-related marketing career in a related industry, with a demonstrated track record of success.
Recent and direct experience with influential consumer brands is a must, with involvement in action sports, outdoor or yoga industries a plus.
Strong project management orientation.
Brand-right sense of personal style and taste, along with technical knowledge of communications design, distribution and event marketing.
A strong sense of intellectual curiosity.
Strong financial management skills.
Experience in business planning and management, including crafting an annual operating budget and operating within that budget while modifying that budget as necessary based on market conditions.
Demonstrated ability to integrate effectively into a highly-cultured environment.
Demonstrate a healthy, active lifestyle including a yoga practice at some level.
