Purpose :
Full-time/40 hour Temporary Position: The Mechanical Specialist Mechanical CL1 is responsible for the maintenance and repair of all of the air, heating and ventilating systems on campus, including all underground steam lines, steam pits, absorption chillers, fume hoods, and building boilers and furnaces.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities :
Employee performs skilled, complex work in the repair, maintenance and installation of heating, ventilating, air conditioning, and steam distribution equipment and systems.
Employee reads blueprints, piping and wiring diagrams; performs brazing, soldering, pipefitting, and welding; installs, maintains, and repairs computerized electronic pneumatic devices related to HVAC control.
Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications :
Three years experience installing and maintaining 50
ton air conditioning systems strongly recommended.
Electrical and refrigeration certification related to air conditioning systems required.
Must be able to lift up to 50lbs and work in tight spaces on a regular basis.
Home phone and ability to be on campus within 45 minutes of being called back required.
Work effectively and cooperatively with members of Facilities Maintenance staff, UMaine administration, the campus community, and external clients and customers.
