Responsibilities
The Transport Paramedic function as a member of the critical care transport team and is responsible for the care of critically ill and injured patients transported by Vidant EastCare. Responsibilities include patient care, incorporating assessment, stabilization, and intervention techniques consistent with standards and protocols approved by the Medical Director. The Transport Paramedic is expected to execute independent judgment, in order to deliver appropriate care that is consistent with the clinical protocols, when contact with a medical command physician is not possible. The Transport Paramedic functions as part of a team and shares responsibility for the team's conduct. The Transport Paramedic fulfills education and experiential requirements as established by the Vidant EastCare Medical Director, and performs other duties as assigned. The Paramedic I position will follow the Clinical ladder for Paramedic I.
Professional:
The Transport Paramedic functions as a professional representative of the Vidant EastCare system and shall support and up-hold the mission, goals, and objectives of the system at all times. The Transport Paramedic will:
Utilize proper channels for improvement of the system;
At all times maintain a positive customer service approach;
Maintain physical fitness and body weight as monitored by an annual physical exam;
Maintain a professional and neat appearance while on duty and representing Vidant EastCare during other functions; maintain a cooperative or team oriented working relationship with co-workers;
Work and communicate effectively.
Clinical:
The Transport Paramedic is responsible for rendering advanced life support care to critically ill or injured patients in adherence with established protocols and standards of care. The Transport Paramedic will:Maintain skills through mandatory participation in continuing education sessions and clinical activities;
Be knowledgeable of and able to operate critical life support equipment efficiently and safely;
Attend required scheduled staff meetings to enhance clinical knowledge and skills unless excused by the management team.
Thoroughly document patient care to accurately reflect assessment and interventions;
Complete daily base duties such as patient follow-up and 24 hour report records;
Perform all other duties as assigned.
Operational:
The Transport Paramedic is responsible for thorough knowledge of the Vidant EastCare policies and procedures, and shall assist in meeting operational goals and objectives. The Transport Paramedic will:
Prepare for shift duties by inspecting equipment and on-board supply inventories at beginning of work shift;
Assure proper maintenance and retrieval of Vidant EastCare and referring agency equipment;
Maintain a clean patient transport environment, including all medical equipment, supplies and living quarters;
Restock equipment and supplies immediately following each transport;
Complete monthly duties as assigned;
Operate communication equipment professionally;
Assure safety of patients and all others functioning in and around the aircraft and ambulance:
Respond promptly to Vidant EastCare pages in order to effect an expedited response;
Perform all Vidant EastCare missions as assigned.
Quality Improvement:
The Transport Paramedic shall be responsible for supporting and participating in the Vidant EastCare Quality Improvement Plan. The Transport Paramedic will:
Participate in the Vidant EastCare Quality Improvement program through membership on the QI Council and follow through on various QI activities as assigned directly by the Medical Director, SDA.
Ensure adherence to, and updates as needed, Vidant EastCare policies and procedures, in conjunction/collaboration with the SDA, and/or Medical Director;
Participate in developing and completing research projects designed to advance or evaluate air medical transport.
Continuing Education: The Transport Paramedic will:
Assist with the orientation of new personnel to the Vidant EastCare system;
Identify areas for continuing education specific to transport crews' needs through chart reviews, crew interaction, etc;
Assist the SDA in designing, implementing and updating the continuing education program for the Vidant EastCare system;
Participate in continuing education activities to maintain current medical command status.
Staffing: As an employee of the Vidant EastCare system, the Transport Paramedic shall support continuity of service through flexibility in scheduling and base assignment. The Transport Paramedic will be prepared and prompt in reporting for scheduled shifts as assigned.
Special Projects: The Transport Paramedic shall participate in system wide and base site projects on an ongoing basis. The Transport Paramedic will:
Support and participate in system wide and base site educational activities to area hospitals and community health agencies;
Participate in the monitoring of safe air medical operations.
Patient Confidentiality and Privacy:
The Transport Paramedic shall protect the privacy of all patient information in accordance with the Vidant EastCare privacy policies, procedures, and practices, as required by federal and state laws. The Transport Paramedic will:
Access protected health information and other patient information only to the extent that is necessary to complete his/her duties;
Share such information only with those individuals and entities that have a need to know with regard to specific patient information;
Report, without the threat of retaliation, any concerns regarding Vidant EastCare's policies and procedures on patient privacy and any observed practices in violation of that policy to the designated Privacy Officer;
Actively participate in the Vidant EastCare privacy training programs;
Communicate privacy policy information to coworkers, students, patients, and others in accordance with the EastCare privacy policies.
Minimum Requirements
High School or equivalent: EMT-P training required.
ACLS, BLS, PALS. NRP, ITLS or PHTLS must be obtained befor the end of orientation, One specialty certification for example, FP-C must be obtained within 2 years of hire is required.
3 to 5 years experience is required. 3 years from a high call volume area.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
