The Future Technologies Group in the Computer Science and Mathematics Division at Oak Ridge National Laboratory invites applications for a postdoctoral research appointment in heterogeneous functional computing.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
The selected candidate will be part of a research project that studies the viability of using functional languages for developing scientific applications running on extreme scale computing systems with heterogeneous architectures. The project will involve modifying the computational core of several existing scientific applications to use a functional programming model, and evaluating the performance and scalability of these modified applications when running on extreme scale systems with heterogeneous architectures. The project will also involve development and evaluation of techniques for automatically converting scientific software to use a functional programming model.
Qualifications Required
Minimum Qualifications Required:
An earned Ph.D. in computer science, computer engineering or a closely related discipline is required.
The successful candidate is expected to have strong experience with development of software for heterogeneous architectures (e.g., CUDA, OpenCL, MIC), performance measurement and analysis.
The successful candidate will also have excellent communication skills, the ability to work as part of a team, but also the ability to pursue research directions independently.
A proven publication track record is required.


Qualifications Desired:
Experience with functional programming languages, compilers or source-to-source translators, and parallel scientific applications is a plus.

Applicants cannot have received their Ph.D. more than five years prior to the date of application and must complete all degree requirements before starting their appointment. Certain exceptions may be considered. This position is a temporary, full-time assignment not to exceed 24 months.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
