Job Description:
The Engineering Manager is responsible for leading the engineering department, managing activities of department staff, ensuring a safe workplace, and partnering with other departments to design and manufacture world-class instruments. Additionally the position is responsible for all engineering logistics and must be familiar with Manufacturing, Material and Supply chain management. Must have the ability to prepare proposals and create reports such as trend analysis, forecast, and benchmarks. Must understand statistical techniques and manage project time-lines.
Primary
Responsibilities:
Works with the Dir. Of Product Development to ensure project brief inputs are sufficiently detailed for approval.
Works with the Dir. of Product Development to schedule and plan all approved projects within the department.
Ensures staffing levels and skill sets are adequate to meet department goals and complete projects on time.
Staff management which includes payroll, vacations and other human resource matters.
Supervises and works with the Documentation Manager to track and monitor the activity of all department projects and set priorities for Project Managers.
Identifies and secures all tools, equipment and materials required for projects.
Plans all project timelines with dated stage gates and ensures progress is on or ahead of schedule through organized meetings and resource coordination.
Works closely with other departments to ensure department output adequately supports their needs and requirements.
Collaborates with Dir. of Quality to address all corrective actions that affect the engineering department.
Responsible for tracking and monitoring all department metrics and goals set yearly as part of the ISO Management Review process.
Works closely with the President to ensure department goals, projects and customer support is well aligned with the companys sales and marketing objectives.
Follow company policies, procedures and safety regulations
Background Requirements:
BS in Engineering or related field
10
years of Project Management experience in development of laboratory or process instruments.
Skilled in logistics, communications and managing in a team environment.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
