Job Summary

Maps is about more than just location and directions, it's about modeling the physical world in software. In this position you will help discover patterns and quality issues within our Points of Interest (POI) data sets. The role will encompass designing, developing and maintaining systems to visualize and detect issues and recommend opportunities for improvement.
Large Scale Data Mining, Network Analysis, Information Retrieval, Data Visualization, Artificial Intelligence, and Machine Learning are some skills a successful candidate with have to help identify and recommend fixes for consistent issues.

Key Qualifications

5+ years of experience scaling large software systems
3+ years of experience with NoSQL datastores
Experience designing and developing Machine Learning algorithms
Experience with Data Mining and Information Retrieval
Experience developing data visualization of large data sets a plus
Experience with data pipelines
Ability to rapidly learn new technologies
Strong written and oral communication skills


The Apple Maps Points of Interest (POI) engineering team is looking for a data scientist to help us build the next generation geolocation system. We are constantly optimizing and improving our processing pipeline to deliver the highest-quality experience to our customers. In this role you will build large-scale server-side systems to model Points of Interest by ingesting data from many different vendors. This data will flow through our systems to be displayed in the Maps application. You should have experience with NoSQL datastores, indexing technologies, server architectures, messaging systems, and data pipelines. The ideal candidate thrives in a small team of outstanding engineers and data scientists working together to solve hard problems and build great features.


Minimum Bachelor's degree in CS, EE, Statistics or relevant industry experience

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
