POSITION DUTIES: Design, develop and improve cutting-edge, production-grade server-side features and APIs as well as Android (Google Play, Amazon) applications and games used by millions of users. Utilize mobile networking best practices including request limiting, request caching, batching, content aggregation, minification, integrating with rest and tcp/udp services. Optimize Scopelys applications and games for speed, memory usage and end-user responsiveness. Use asynchronous, multi-threaded, parallel programming paradigms and other techniques to maximize UI responsiveness. Implement services that often generate significant revenue impact for the company (e.g. analytics and a/b testing servers). Experience working with technologies like Memcached, Redis, an array of AWS services, ElasticCache, etc.
DEGREE REQUIREMENTS: Bachelors degree in Computer Science or its equivalent in education and/or experience.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 5 years of work experience in the job offered, Android Engineer or related occupation.
ALTERNATE REQUIREMENTS: For every year not completed toward the Bachelor's degree, Employer will accept one year of coursework or one year of professional experience as an Android Engineer or related occupation.
OTHER SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Comprehension of CS principles: data structures, trees and graphs, object oriented programming, mastery of Java 8, hands on experience building massively scalable server side systems. Experience must include mobile networking best practices: request limiting, request caching, batching, content aggregation, minification, integrating with rest and tcp/udp services, etc.; performance profiler and optimizing for speed, memory usage and end-user responsiveness; asynchronous, multi-threaded, parallel programming paradigms; Android APIs and obscure parameters; Java and Android and created mobile applications that have sold in the application store(s).
