The Family and MWR Sports Office coordinates a wide variety of intramural, interservice, and All Army sports program leagues scheduled throughout the year. Leagues are offered for sports like softball, soccer, flag football and volleyball, and they also offer a number of special programs and tournaments scheduled throughout the year. The sports office accepts applications for all intramural programs year round.
This position will be located at Schofield Barracks Sports office.

Plans, develops, coordinates, organizes, schedules, publicizes and directs a large, diversified installation intramural sports and fitness program. Determines and offers numerous sports opportunities for service members for competition and tournament participation and access to higher level competition. Assists in conducting clinics and seminars to train coaches, officials and/or participants. Evaluates the effectiveness of sports activities program objectives. Develops program plans and requirements. Responsible for organizing, scheduling, and publicizing activities and programs, to include special events based upon customer interest, command directives and available resources. Arranges for necessary supplies, transportation, space, and services to accomplish scheduled sports activities. Prepares and submits participation and personnel reports, after action reports, risk assessments, etc. Inspects designated outdoor sports facilities and submits work/services orders when needed. Responsible for the daily operation of all designated outdoor sports facilities and fields, and assists maintenance staff in preparing fields and courts for intramural sports activities and programs. Performs other duties as assigned.

Demonstrated experience in planning, supervising, administering or carrying out a sports program that included a variety of individual and team sports and guiding participants in developing the skills needed for participation in sports activities and teaching the techniques of various sports. This experience may have bee gained managing or administering a sports program in a community, industrial activity, or secondary school or college; planning, teaching or evaluating a physical education curriculum for secondary or higher academic levels; or managing, umpiring, or officiating at amateur or professional athletic events, competitions, or games. Required experience must have been equivalent to the next lower grade level. An undergraduate degree in physical education may be fully qualifying for this position.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work will be performed indoors and outdoors in inclement weather. Exposure to dust and dirt. Heavy lifting required.

HIGLY QUALIFYING CRITERIAS FOR SPORTS SPECIALIST:
Candidate who possess a four (4) year degree with emphasis in physical education, sports, fitness, recreation or management. Transcripts are required to verify eligibility.
Experience using Microsoft Office (Power Point, Word, Excel and Outlook) or similar software.
Experience drafting and editing documents such as policies, memos, and standard operating procedures for an office or organizations.
Credit may be given for appropriate unpaid experience or volunteer work. In order to qualify for this position, your resume must provide sufficient experience and/or education, knowledge, skills, and abilities, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are being considered.
