_Position Summary_
To operate a cash register and/or the self-checkout to provide the store's customers with the most accurate and efficient check-out service possible; may perform bagging and stocking duties to ensure that the work shift contributes to the financial best interests of the store. Complete all other duties as assigned in a timely manner
_Minimum Requirements_
_Degrees_
High School Graduate (Preferred)
_Job Experience_
One (1) year retail or related experience preferred.
_Responsibilities and Essential Duties_
Accurately operate cash register, display cost of customer purchase, make change, cash checks, and issue receipt
Use proper bagging supplies and proper bagging techniques when handling guests' purchases
Knowledgeable of product locations in the store
Positively communicate benefits of Spartan programs; in store specials and coupons to customers
Knowledgeable and capable of implementing all related security and cash drawer accounting procedures
Keep management informed of problems with pricing (not on files), cash registers or scales
Maintain a clean, attractive and well stocked department
Verify identification for alcohol and tobacco purchases per established guidelines
Handle spoiled/damaged products per established guidelines;
_Knowledge, Skills Abilities_
Ability to read, write, comprehend, and interpret documents
Basic mathematical skills
Suggestive Selling/Knowledge of Products

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The associate is frequently required to sit/stand/walk. May be required to travel. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is subject to a typical retail store environment (varied temperatures) and is rarely exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee may be exposed to refrigerated/freezer coolers. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
