Position/Rank: Researcher III - CFAAS Research Systems Manager, an Administrative/Professional position in the Center for Fisheries, Aquaculture and Aquatic Sciences at Southern Illinois University Carbondale.
Duties and
Responsibilities: Supervise the CFAAS research systems, including aquaculture ponds and recirculation/life support systems, boats and motors, and associated field and laboratory equipment. Assist in the training of students and staff in fisheries and aquaculture techniques. Lead efforts to ensure CFAAS research activities comply with SIU Carbondale Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee and Center for Environmental Health and Safety requirements. Other duties may be assigned as necessary to facilitate the research and graduate training mission of the Center.
Required
Qualifications: Master's degree in Biology, Zoology, Natural Resources, or a related discipline with an applied aquatic emphasis. Formal coursework in fisheries and aquaculture, and experience in conducting and overseeing aquatic research are required. Experience managing aquatic research equipment and facilities is required, including construction and maintenance of intensive and extensive aquaculture systems, fisheries field equipment operation and maintenance. Experience designing research projects, producing reports necessary, and coordinating with regulatory authorities regarding animal welfare and worker safety compliance. Must have a valid Illinois driver's license.
Salary: $2,941 per month
Effective Date of Appointment: Position begins as soon as possible and is expected to continue for one year with additional years contingent on funding.
