Libby Dam project employees manage, operate and maintain the dam, powerhouse, recreation areas, and Visitor Center. They also manage the water resources of Lake Koocanusa, a geographic area that receives over 300,000 visitors a year. The Department of the Army Pathways Internship Program is designed to provide students currently enrolled in a wide variety of educational institutions, from high school to graduate level, with opportunities to work and get paid while exploring federal careers through a job with the Department of Army.

Positions are open to current students in an accredited high school, college (including 4-year colleges/universities, community colleges, and junior colleges); professional, technical, vocational, and trade school; advanced degree programs; or other qualifying educational institution pursuing a qualifying degree or certificate.
Must be 17 years of age by 1 MAY 2015. A valid driver license required. Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds requires a pre-employment physical. Will be required to sign a Pathways Participant Agreement. Appointment will not exceed 6 months. You will perform manual labor tasks in support of the operation and maintenance of recreation facilities. You may be assigned one or more of the following duties.
Operate equipment such as chain saws, jack hammers, compactors, heavy power mowers, power trimmers, power edgers, powered weed-eaters, large electric drills and/or related hand tools to perform grounds maintenance.
As a flagman, direct traffic, guide dump trucks to work sites, signal drivers backing loads to dump sites.
Assist in laying out work sites by driving stakes, holding tapes, lines, chains and rods.
Use shovels to dig ditches and trenches where grading and sloping are not required; fill holes with dirt and levels bumps and low places, using shovel, hand tamper, hoe, and rake.
Move dirt, sand, cement using wheel barrow.
Mixes cement or asphalt - pour and rough finish.
Load and unload heavy boxes, bulky supplies, and materials to and from trucks by hand or hand truck.
Clean and sanitize park buildings and facilities including restrooms, picnic shelters,
RV dump stations, boating facilities, pump-houses, storage buildings, and park offices.
Collect litter and perform other light grounds maintenance duties in campsites, picnic areas, swim beaches, playgrounds, lawn areas, trails, roadways and parking areas.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element) - Ability to do the Work of the Position without more than Normal Supervision includes the ability to perform manual laboring tasks associated with grounds and facilities maintenance after being instructed on what is to be done and how to do the task, ability to operate equipment such as chain saws, jack hammers, compactors, heavy power mowers, power trimmers, power edgers, powered weed-eaters, large electric drills and/or related hand tools to perform grounds maintenance work, ability to perform landscaping tasks using shovels, hand tampers, hoes, and/or rakes by digging ditches and trenches, filling holes with dirt and leveling bumps and low places, ability to lift or move loads over 50 pounds such as moving heavy loads of dirt, cement or asphalt pushing a wheelbarrow. PHYSICAL EFFORT: Work requires continuous standing, walking, stooping, bending, etc. Lifts, carries, loads, unloads and moves materials, supplies and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Majority of work being performed outside in all kinds of weather. Work is by nature dirty, dusty and may require working around or with noisy equipment. Work around tools and equipment requires care and attention to safety practices prescribed, in order to avoid injury to self or others and/or damage to equipment. Work may require working in remote locations, hiking over rough terrain, climbing steep inclines, and jumping over obstructions. Work may be subject to tripping, falling, cuts, bruises or insect bites. Potentially dangerous animals, such as raccoons, waspsand bear may be encountered.

The duration of a Pathways appointment is a trial period.
Work schedule may flex between part time and full time.
Must be a U.S. citizen or lawfully permitted to work in the United States.

Must be taking at least half-time course load as defined by your school.
May be required to wear protective clothing and/or equipment.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
