The Awake Overnight Counselor is responsible for ensuring the health and safety of all individuals during the night. This includes being available to provide any assistance needed during the night, which requires the need to stay awake during this shift, and assisting with morning activities as needed.
1. Remain alert and respond to the needs of the individuals.
2. Assist individuals with morning activities as needed, advise individuals in choosing weather appropriate clothing and prepare lunch and/or any items needed for the day program.
3. Lift and transfer individuals as needed.
4. Provide a safe living environment for individuals through compliance with agency policies, OSHA and other safety standards.
5. Train individuals in responding to nighttime fire drills, conduct regular drills and ensure the safe evacuation of individuals from the program during a fire or fire drill.
6. Provide transportation of individuals to day programs as needed.
7. Assist individuals with home maintenance and perform cleaning duties as assigned.
8. Implement established treatment programs.
9. Report significant health, psychiatric or behavioral issues to the on-call person in accordance with program procedure.
10. Prepare summaries of interaction and objective behavioral observations of individuals at the end of shift; clinical notes and data collection using Microsoft Outlook.
11. Perform physical intervention in the event of an ndividual's crisis.
12. Attend trainings as assigned; maintain necessary certifications (CPR/First Aid, MAP, SOLVE, HR/DPPC).
13. Ensure that individuals are treated with dignity and respect in accordance with Advocates' Human Rights policy.
1. High School Diploma or GED plus 6 months related experience.
2. Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
3. Must have basic computer knowledge.
4. Ability to read English and communicate effectively in the primary language of the program to which he/she is assigned.
5. Ability to communicate effectively in writing and possess the ability to use good judgment.
6. Sensitivity to the needs of the population.
7. High energy level and ability to function in a team atmosphere.
8. Must hold a valid drivers' license. Must have access to an operational and insured vehicle and be willing to use it to transport clients.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
