Newly hired intermittent nursing staff are required to attend a four-day nursing orientation program during the third week of the first or second month following entry on duty. This requires full-time daytime availability during that week.

_Salary/Grade Level Determination_: Your salary and grade will be determined by the Nurse Professional Standards Board (NPSB). The NPSB is a peer review process. The NPSB will review your individual qualifications, education, professional training/internship(s) and professional experience to determine the most appropriate salary and grade based on your individual accomplishments. If position is filled by reassignment, individual selected will retain grade and step of position currently held.
_Area of Consideration (AOC)_: First area of consideration will be given to NFFE permanent employees at Leavenworth VAMC. Second AOC will be given to EKHCS permanent employees. Third AOC will be all other US Citizens.

Function Statement Title: Staff Nurse
The ICU Nurse provides direct and indirect nursing care to critically ill patients by assessing patient status, determining priorities, identifying nursing needs and therapeutic objectives, and evaluating outcomes. The position requires independent judgment and nursing actions, flexibility, organizational skills, and the ability to utilize an interdisciplinary approach in the provision of professional nursing care. The ICU Nurse must be motivated and self-directed in learning. The ICU Staff Nurse is responsible both clinically and administratively to the Nurse Manager of the Unit. Duties include documenting observations, assessments, and changes in patient's condition; collaborating with health team members to facilitate positive patient care outcomes; providing a full range of nursing care to patients with a variety of physical and/or behavior problems; and accountable for meeting and maintaining the qualification standards and functional statements of assigned grade. Our facility is seeking individuals who possess good organizational skills which enable completion of work, a demonstrated ability to assume leadership in a patient centered program, and the ability to establish effective communication with patients, families, visitors and members of the interdisciplinary team. Intermittent nursing staff will be expected to float and cover other areas as needed. Excellent customer service and communication skills are required.
If not currently ACLS certified, it will be expected.

Full unrestricted Licensure, Certification, or Registration required.
Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate State-accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant: The National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing.
The completion of coursework equivalent to a nursing degree that qualified for professional nursing registration constitutes the completion of an approved course of study of professional nursing. Stuedents should submit the certifidate of professional nursing to sit for the NCLEX to the VA along with a copy of the nursing transcript. (Reference VA Handbook 5005, Appendix G6)
Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, or the District of Columbia.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
