This position is located in the Operations Officer, PWO/Deputy Public Works Officer Maine (Kittery), Production Division, BSVE Equipment Branch Motor Vehicle Operation, NAVAL FACILITIES MID-ATLANTIC, Kittery, Maine. The work at this level includes operating forklifts, farm and garden tractors, industrial tractors with front end bucket loaders, back hoe digging and street broom attachments. The incumbent serving in the position may at any time be assigned to similar position at any site or workstation within the commuting area as a condition of employment. You must be a US Citizen. Must be registered for Selective Service, see Legal & Regulatory Guidance. Suitable for Federal employment as determined by background investigation. Selectee may be required to successfully complete a probationary period. You must obtain and maintain a security clearance.
Operate forklifts, farm and garden tractors, industrial tractors with front-end bucket loaders, back hoe digging and street broom attachments, industrial street and catch basin vacuum cleaners, snow blowers, riding and heavy duty push type lawn mowers.
Use jackhammers to cut pavement, remove ledge and open excavations.
Operate chain saws, pavement rollers, power tampers and tractors to haul equipment and material.

Working Conditions: Incumbent works both inside and outside and is exposed to bad weather conditions. Incumbent works in dusty, dirty, drafty and noisy areas. Isexposed to the possibility of cuts, bruises, scrapes, vibrations and jolts from equipment being operated and is frequently required to take special care to avoid serious injury. The incumbent may be assigned to work areas where certain potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present. These agents may include, but are not limited to: fumes, dust, noise, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation, chemicals, etc. The ensure selectee safety and health, the Shipyard maintains personnel protection programs consistent with applicable laws andregulations. These programs may include engineering controls, training, work procedures, use of personal protective equipment and medical surveillance. As part of the surveillance programs, the imcumbent may be required to take medical examinations to assess his or her medical qualification for dutyinvolving work with these agents.
