Shift Manager - Operations

Our Midwest facility has immediate openings for Shift Managers to handle various aspects of finishing operations and to supervise and lead a team of unionized operation forces in our Midwest Sheet Products Division.
Duties include, but are not limited to the following:
Administration of the U. S. Steel safety program to ensure a safe work environment, including proper housekeeping
Application of engineering principles and problem solving techniques to evaluate and resolve operating issues to maximize efficiencies
Use technical knowledge, equipment documentation, safety procedures to produce sheet products
Coordinate production of manufacturing with productions staff
Directly supervise union production staff and work closely with vendors and contractors as necessary
Ensure environmental compliance
Other administrative activities may include scheduling/paying crews, completing production reports, and other reporting as necessary
Requirements:
Experience in heavy manufacturing operation
Knowledge of steel making and manufacturing operation
High school diploma or GED required. Bachelors Degree in Engineering discipline desired or equivalent years of demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing operation in a heavy industrial environment.
Minimum 2 years working in an industrial maintenance atmosphere
Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience required
Experience managing in a manufacturing/production environment preferred
Strong background in maintenance and computer skills required
Experience working with bargaining unit / wage employees is desirable
Level and compensation based on experience.
