Scope of Position:
The Supply Manager for NAFTA operations is a divisional role in Corning Life Science (CLS) that reports to the Global CLS Global Supply Management (GSM) Business Procurement Manager. This position is a newly expanded role to drive sourcing strategy enablement across the Plastics Plants and leads strategy development as needed. This role will drive standardized supplier metrics and processes including, Supplier Relationship management, cost improvement program goal attainment across both direct and indirect categories and most importantly ensures high quality and reliable product supply of raw materials and components and selected finished goods. This position supervises the Supply Leaders in the Plants and supports their development as part of a clearly defined talent strategy.
The role optimizes resources across the region to provide the best cost and performance for the CLS division. This involves the overall planning, implementation, and optimization of all activities and support required for the buying and delivery of products and services, from material acquisition through delivery.
Day to Day
Responsibilities:
Global Supply Management (GSM within the region / business which would involve engaging Corporate functions, Shared Services as well as Corporate GSM functions as necessary to assure global Buying Policy enforcement; Customs Compliance adherence.
Establishes linkage between GSM Strategy, Business Strategy and Plant Strategy through shared objectives. Develops scorecard to enable goal attainment
Assures Contribution Metrics are updated and linked with site / business cost reduction portfolio by active leader / member of cross-functional teams focused on process improvement, cost reduction and supply chain enhancements. Leverages site spend with business and corporate spend.
Creates and maintains contractual documents (Supply Agreements, Pricing Agreements, Non-Disclosure Agreements, Certificates of Insurance, etc.).
Manages effective supplier relationships by means of audits, visits, evaluations to review areas such as capabilities and capacities as part of an SRM process deployment. Establishes supplier scorecards for key suppliers and identifies new or alternative sources as necessary.
Assesses risk on an ongoing basis and develops Risk Mitigation plans where necessary.
Conducts sourcing activities (RFQ's / RFI's, Analysis, Sourcing strategy / recommendations, contract negotiations, contract maintenance and enforcement.
Engages early supplier involvement as necessary in new product development (process design, commodity overviews, IP opportunities, technical advances, JDA, etc.).
Locates and selects potential sources of materials or services (site specific excluding Global commodities).
Interacts with Strategic Souring to understand the supply base and market dynamics, support execution of commodity and supplier sourcing strategy.
Collaborates with planning or production control to effectively control material scheduling and planning.
Works with Finance on standard setting and cost reduction budgeting, price forecasting, etc.
Main contact between Commodity and site for implementing change. Drives site implementation and advocacy of centralized RTP process.
Active leader / member of cross-functional teams focused on process improvement, cost reduction and supply chain issues resolution, new product development.
Protects Intellectual Property (IP, Conducts IP audits.
Ensures compliance with internal and external auditing requirements related especially to GSM or any other certification (if applicable).

Required Education: Bachelor's degree (Technical, Business or Supply Chain)
Required Years and Area of
Experience:
7 years' experience in manufacturing - operations, planning, quality, engineering, supply chain.
Experience with procurement and supply chain processes and systems
Proven leadership skills
Experience working in a matrix environment or on a cross functional team
Experience in frontline or mainstream business experience
Willingness to travel and be mobile globally
Has worked globally (Experience working in a global organization and managing people in a global business)

Master's in Business or Supply Chain Management

Procurement and / or transportation experience
Certified Purchasing Manager (C.P.M.) or Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM), APICS or certification related to Supply Chain
LEAN or Six Sigma Certification or equivalent experience
