O-I is currently seeking a Technical Specialist - Forming to join our team at our World Headquarters in Perrysburg, OH.
This position is responsible for technically supporting and building capabilities of the regional glass manufacturing operations by providing expertise to OI North America glass plants and the Technical Training & Troubleshooting Group as well as improvement advice to plants for process, productivity and quality improvement. Position will also provide specifications and technical advice to the Administration Engineers to allow implementation of capital projects at minimum cost.
Areas of technical support will be one of the following: inspection and packaging, process control, machine repair, forming, furnace operations, or glass conditioning.
Principal Accountabilities:

Establish close working relationships with manufacturing personnel to ensure safety, quality and productivity requirements are met by providing technical training and technical assistance to build factory capability as required.
Develop techniques to assist plants in improving safety, quality, preventative maintenance and productivity.
Identify and direct continuous improvement efforts to improve operational excellence including but not limited to process improvements, cost reduction, preventative maintenance, production efficiencies and capital repairs.
Provide technical assistance for major capital projects. Involvement includes assistance with work scope development, layouts, concept design, specification, and equipment selection as required.
Provide a communication forum for plant based subject matter experts and provide technical assistance to plant management and engineering staff who will manage non major projects.
Maintain awareness and commitment to employment and legislative responsibilities in relation to safety, discrimination, Human Resources policies, quality and the environment.
Lead Best Practice Committees and monthly SMK team meetings to ensure consistent policies regarding the respective disciplines.
Ensure that the policies, practices and equipment running in plants comply with Best Practice by facilitating and being involved in workshops and plant audits. Organize regular operational audits of plants manufacturing areas.
Scope and Impact:
The Technical Support Specialist (SME) is responsible for the implementation of significant improvements in manufacturing capabilities as well as significant improvements in performance across the region, while ensuring the standardization of best practice processes.
It will be important for the SMEs to maintain strong relationships globally. The Technical Support Specialist SME will work directly with Plant Managers, Production Manager, Finished Products Manager, Plant Engineers, Mold Design, Forming Engineering, Plant Quality Managers, Regional Quality, and GTOC across the region. The incumbent is required to influence rather than direct
Position Requirements:
Bachelors Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience (electrical, electronics or mechanical preferred)
Minimum of 5 years experience in the required technical area (e.g. machine repair experience for machine repair support specialist,). A detailed knowledge of applicable processes and associated equipment is essential.
Proven experience managing and leading others to change and improve technical processes.
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Glass plant experience desired.
Proven experience with specifying and implementing capital projects.
LSS Kaizen, Green Belt or Black Belt certification preferred
Reporting Relationships:
This position reports to the Operational Capabilities Manager.
There are no direct reports to the Technical Support Specialist SME position.
Travel Requirements:
This role will involve regular travel throughout the North America region (approximately 40 60%)

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
