JOB SUMMARY :
This position is responsible for providing direction and leadership with Plant financial/accounting, inventory controls and Sarbanes - Oxley business initiatives. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and driving strategic efforts to maintain compliance with all applicable financial/accounting laws and regulations, corporate policies, and internal controls. This position works with Generation Management, Corporate Accounting, Human Resources, Internal Auditing and External Auditors to ensure compliance with all financial-related regulations. This position develops and implements plans to mitigate financial compliance risk to the plant. Additionally, this position is responsible for ensuring a high level of awareness regarding internal controls and budget opportunities. Effective performance management of direct reports is essential.
JOB REQUIREMENTS : (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills)
Bachelor's
Degree in accounting or related business field is required.
Extensive performance management experience desired including direct supervision of non-covered and/or exempt employees.
Ability to develop team synergy and individual skill sets for the betterment of the financial team and future APC roles respectively.
Strong analytical and organizational skills are required.
Strong power plant knowledge and/or experience preferred.
Strong technical accounting and financial skills including knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and RERC accounting requirements desired.
Ability to influence decisions and philosophy across departments.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES :
Fully understand legal, regulatory and compliance requirements in the areas of Accounting, budgeting, warehousing, invoicing and timekeeping within the organization.
Manage business processes associated with accounting, budgeting, invoicing, and timekeeping.
Fully understand the Sarbanes - Oxley Act of 2002 along with associated regulations and how it impacts financial reporting and business cycles identified at plants.
Development of proper internal controls, processes and procedures to ensure compliance with legal, regulatory and corporate requirements for financial reporting
.
Conduct audits or self-assessments within the organization to ensure compliance with legal, regulatory and compliance requirements for financial reporting.
Train and educate all applicable plant employees on legal, regulatory and compliance requirements to ensure that business risks and consequences are understood for financial reporting.
Work with corporate accounting and internal / external auditors to ensure information is provided and issues are properly addressed.
Ensure plant manages its business in accordance with financial components of the Play Book.
Facilitate self-assessment process (Enviance).
Continue to refine system/process budgeting practices and related Miller processes.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP :
This position reports to the Planning and Engineering Manager. The direct reports of this position may include Financial Specialist.
