The Nutritionist I provides First Steps (Maternity Support Services and Infant Case Management) and WIC services within the context of an office-based multidisciplinary team including Nutrition Assistants, Public Health Nurses, Registered Dieticians and Social Workers.
Nutritionists are responsible for providing direct nutrition services to individuals and groups as part of a client-centered Public Health WIC and MSS clinic.
Auburn Public Health Center serves a culturally diverse population with many clients speaking a language other than English as their primary language. Services are focused on improving the nutrition status of individuals and populations through nutrition assessment, counseling, education, nutrition care coordination, and evaluation.
There are currently two (2) Term Limited Temporary (TLT) vacancies at the Auburn Clinic. TLT positions are at will but receive a full benefits package, including health insurance and an ORCA bus pass. Please indicate which position(s) you are applying for in the Supplemental Questions. 1) A TLT position that is anticipated to last six (6) months. This position works 40 hours per week and may be asked to work at more than one site, including satellite sites in Enumclaw and Muckleshoot. Hours are 8 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday or 7:30-6:00, Monday through Thursday. Hours may vary slightly with different clinics. Daily schedule to be determined based on clinic needs. This position is subject to the Fair Labor Standards Act and is overtime eligible.
The anticipated end date for this TLT is June 15th, 2015.
2) A TLT position that is anticipated to last one year (12 months). This position works 40 hours per week and may be asked to work at more than one site, including satellite sites in Enumclaw and Muckleshoot. Hours are 8 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday or 7:30-6:00, Monday through Thursday. Hours may vary slightly with different clinics. Daily schedule to be determined based on clinic needs. This position is subject to the Fair Labor Standards Act and is overtime eligible.
The anticipated end date for this TLT is December 15th, 2015.

Examples of Duties:
Assess the changing needs of medically complex and high-risk clients, primarily pregnant and breastfeeding women, infants, and children. Some adult clients are seen for diabetes, hypertension and other chronic long term conditions/diseases.
Accurately obtain and document anthropometric measurements for infants, children and adults.
Provide health care education with other multi-disciplinary team members regarding nutrition and other health related topics as needed.
Actively participate in Quality Assurance activities and lead WIC Program Self Audits of service delivery throughout the year.
Regularly utilize clinic practice management software and data systems including CIMS and TREC.
Orient new staff to clinic and WIC program as requested; occasionally provide discipline-specific training at various staff meetings.
Assist with completing the yearly WIC Nutrition Education Plan and other projects as needed.
Qualifications:
Current Registered Dietician (RD) License - registered with the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
Bachelor or Masters of Science or MPH in Nutrition required
Must be Washington State Certified Dietitian or have an application in process and able to obtain within 30 days.
A National Provider Identification (NPI) must be obtained within the first 30 days of employment.
A minimum of six (6) months to one (1) year of work experience providing direct client nutrition services after completing an intern/externship or practicum.
A minimum of six (6) months to one (1) year of experience providing WIC and/or MSS (Maternity Support Services).
A minimum of six (6) months to one (1) year of demonstrated experience providing training on nutrition services and principles to other staff.
Ability to maintain good interpersonal interactions with clients and co-workers as a member of a multi-disciplinary public health team with a diverse multi-cultural population.
Demonstrated experience providing nutrition education in a group setting; as well as clear ability to organize, lead, and facilitate group discussions and staff training.
Established knowledge of local health and social service resources available in the community and skill in establishing working relationships with community partners.
Demonstrated ability to successfully perform a number of tasks simultaneously, meet deadlines and work under strict time constraints and remain flexible to changing work responsibilities based on staffing.
Public Health relies on office automation (Microsoft Office) and web-based enabled tools, therefore candidates must be proficient and comfortable with computer use to perform functions associated with on-going work.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of WIC Client Information Management System (CIMS) computer software.
Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred but not required.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
