PRN Position (Hours per pay period vary); Wednesday - Saturday, 10-Hour Days (ED Admissions) or Monday - Friday, 8-Hour Days (Outpatient Admissions)
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Monitors the quality and quantity in the day-to-day operation of the admissions function in the Emergency Room or Central Admissions. Prepares the staffing schedules. Allocates available resources to cover for the admission department work that needs to be completed on a daily basis. Works very closely with the Registration Manager, to assure a high level of quality is achieved on a daily basis. When necessary, follows up on all admissions/registrations that need additional information or to correct errors. Develops and maintain mechanisms that assure pre-certification/certification occurs where necessary upon registration. Work with peers, Administrative staff, physicians, and subordinates in a positive and proactive way in day-to-day problem solving. Performs all other duties as assigned.
Core competencies: Compliance and computerized annual required education (HealthStream); additional competencies as defined by Department Director.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent is preferred.
Experience: 2 years experience in an Admissions/Registration hospital setting preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities: Prefer a strong knowledge of the admissions process and of both government and non-government payors. Should be well organized, possess excellent phone skills, and be able to work well with others. This position requires interaction with internal and external customers, including patients, hospital staff, insurance companies, visitors and vendors; therefore, the employee must have appropriate communication skills.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
