Description:
The Plant Corrective Action Preventive Action (CAPA) Leader reports the the Quality Manager located at our Campbell, NY dairy facility (Finger Lakes Region of New York State). This position provides support to the plant for CAPA processes driving the standardization of best-practices and oversight for effective close-out of activities. This individual will manage plant CAPA's and provide support and coaching. Tracking and trending systemic opportunities for plant improvement will be facilitated by this individual.
The successful candidate will have broad knowledge of quality systems, regulatory requirements and experience managing CAPA. He or she must have demonstrated capabilities in risk assessment and root cause failure analysis.
The CAPA Leader will lead and facilitate plant reviews for the Plant Manager and collaborate with the Business Unit (BU) CAPA Leader on resourcing needs for proper close-out of all action activities in the process.
Position offers the candidate to develop/enhance skills in Decision Quality, Risk Assessment & Management, Standing Alone, and Influencing without authority.
Primary Duties and Expectations:
Influence, train and coach personnel in CAPA system and execution, including documenting investigations, root cause analysisand effectiveness checks.
Develop infrastructure and tools for effective CAPA meetings and status tracking.
Oversee plant CAPA meetings and ensure meeting effectiveness.
Track CAPA status and escalate issues with past-due and ineffective CAPA.
Trend quality data and nonconformance's as inputs into the CAPA system.
Generate management review metrics, conduct analysis and use data to identify areas for process improvement and consistency.
Support the BU by performing quality policy compliance assessments and best practice sharing.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Business Knowledge:
Understanding of manufacturing conversion, logistics operations, procurement, commercialization, process capability, and regulatory/health authorities management.
Ability to build risk assessment/management perspective and skills.
Understanding of plant information systems -SAP (BI Reporting), Quality Suite, VOICE, Meridian.
Ability to link BU(s) objectives to the management of plant quality systems.
Root Cause and Failure Analysis Skills
Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Meat Science, Food Science, or related field.

Minimum 3 years' experience in quality, R&D, or operations.

Green Belt/Black Belt or applicable Lean 6 Sigma application experience

Experience with ISO, and/or FSSC 22000 beneficial.

Capable of managing multiple priorities.

Ability to influence key internal business partners, assess and manage risk and communicate across the supply chain required.

Willing to travel 5%.
