As Generac continues to grow and add new products, we have an immediate need for an Engineer to help design and develop our line of Portable Generators.
The Position:
The Engineer II will provide engineering input to product development projects assigned to him/her including interfacing with the cross functional team consisting of engineering, operations (industrial engineering, production, and material procurement), sourcing, quality, service, and marketing. Core responsibilities include:
Designs, validates, and brings new products to market
Specifies precise new product functional requirements; designs, tests and integrates standard, moderately complex components to produce final designs; and evaluates the design's overall effectiveness, cost (including cost/benefit analysis), reliability (risk analysis), and safety.
Designs, develops, executes and evaluates fitness-for-use testing, product specifications and process validation plans for standard products and/or components; creates and reviews material part specifications and bills of materials.
Collaborates with internal manufacturing partners, contract manufacturers, designers and product specialists to optimize basic designs for manufacturability.
Utilizes Pro/Engineer Creo software to model new designs and produce detailed engineering drawings.

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree in Engineering or related discipline
3
years relevant work experience in a product design environment
Solid understanding of 3D computer design is a must ProE preferred
Finite Element analysis experience / skills
Component mechanical design experience
Strong mechanical aptitude
Qualifications:
Retail consumer product experience (engine and alternator experience preferred)
Design experience including sheet metal, tubular steel, injection/blow molded plastic parts, aluminum die casting, sheet metal, welded sheet metal assemblies, stamping, and extruded parts
Project management experience

Power Tools experience or engine driven product preferred but will consider candidates with some of the following: Background in plastics molding, Aluminum die cast component design, sheet metal work stamping and welded sheet metal work assemblies.
