This position is with FirstEnergy Service Co., a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. SC00 The position reports to the Supervisor, Project Management and is in the Real Estate, Facilities and Security group. This
position is accountable for all aspects of engineering and architectural work for new construction, renovations and additions to
FirstEnergy's portfolio of buildings and building systems. This position is specifically responsible for all critical facilities and
infrastructure including Data Centers, Emergency Operating facilities, and Transmission Dispatch and Regional Dispatch facilities. This position will also have responsibility for facilities at Fossil and Nuclear Power Plants. The scope of this position is
engineering work, including all aspects of Facilities Project Design and Construction Management. The position can be located in Fairmont, W VA, Greensburg, PA or Reading, PA. Responsibilities include: - Working on architectural and engineering design packages for facilities across all Business Units from initial concept through
detailed design, construction, start up and turn over
Performing detailed performance analysis of FirstEnergy facilities
Assisting in developing detailed engineering job packages for modifications or additions to electrical, mechanical, HVAC,
building envelope and site work
Assisting in identifying project requirements, establishing budgets and construction schedules, and developing performance
specifications
Coordinating all phases of detail designs, specifications, procurement, and bid evaluation and award process
Coordinating all phases of construction to completion, including architectural and engineering construction documents, change
orders, project budget reconciliation and adherence to the contract terms
Documenting engineering designs and field revisions
Providing technical support to operations groups as required
Preparing written and oral reports to keep management informed of work progress
Communicating ideas to both management and contracted personnel and assisting in carrying ideas through implementation
Managing individual projects, from their conception through the detailed design, procurement and construction and startup of
the project - Maintaining a high level of safety commitment throughout day-to-day functions Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Architectural discipline, or related discipline required
Professional engineer certification a plus
Minimum 0 to 3 years professional work experience required with project design/management experience preferred
Strong project management skills preferred with a demonstrated ability to develop, manage and control multiple projects and
tasks
Working knowledge of building operating systems, health and safety issues, architectural and engineering disciplines, financial
objectives, construction practices, construction documentation and industry related information technology preferred
Strong analytical ability to resolve complex technical issues
Effective written and oral communications skills
Proficiency in engineering economics and budgeting preferred
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel and PowerPoint). Project Scheduler and AutoCAD experience
preferred
Ability to read, interpret and understand facilities architectural and engineering drawings
Possess a working knowledge of codes and standards
Experience in the design and analysis of building systems preferred
In-depth knowledge of architectural, electrical, mechanical and energy management standards preferred
