IT Manager, Global Infrastructure

This position is for a team leader and project manager position in the BIS WHQ team responsible for directing, implementing, supporting and overseeing projects for BIS global infrastructure. This position will have a combination of daily management responsibilities as well as for the delivery of key projects working within WHQ and with operating companies around the world. This position reports to the Senior Manager IT Operations & Global Infrastructure.
The BIS IT strategy is based on global strategic systems to support sales, service, back office and field operations. The WHQ infrastructure team is a critical part of this strategy and is responsible for supplying the infrastructure for these global systems, as well as working with the local IT teams to provide support. The BIS infrastructure and operations strategy is based on a leveraged outsourced model, managed by WHQ resources at Farmington WHQ, as well as regionally in Americas, Europe and Asia. Resources in the department work with key infrastructure suppliers, including a significant component of off-shore support.
Job responsibilities include:
- Identify and plan projects to support strategic and operational requirements for servers, storage, PC and other infrastructure components.
- Deploy world class technology and streamlined processes to enhance the global BIS IT environment.
- Manage a team of employees and (as necessary) contractors to implement projects related to infrastructure. Supervise, coach, evaluate and assist as needed.
- Develop, manage and execute projects to maintain software and hardware currency in the BIS computing environment, such as technology refreshes and upgrades.
- Work with CSC and UTC, and coordinate with BIS globally to manage service levels, projects and performance related to relevant BIS/UTC outsourcing agreements.
- Manage UTC driven infrastructure projects and lead BIS participation in relevant Passport reviews and planning activities.
- Lead server, storage and PC tower activities, working with UTC and BIS to develop and communicate appropriate standards.
