Mission Statement The Pentagon Force Protection Agency (PFPA) is a civilian Defense Agency within the Department of Defense charged with protecting and safeguarding the occupants, visitors, and infrastructure of the Pentagon, and other assigned Pentagon facilities. This position may be filled at either AD-05, AD-06 or AD-07 grade level, please indicate the grade for which you want to be considered, incumbent may be non-competitively promoted to the next grade level in the time frame allowed by regulations and upon management's request. LAUTENBERG AMENDMENT: This position requires the incumbent to carry a firearm. Any person who has been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor crime of domestic violence cannot lawfully possess a firearm or ammunition (Title 18, USC Section 992(g)). A felony or misdemeanor crime of domestic violence is generally defined under the statute, as an offense involving the use or attempted use of physical force, or the threatened use of a deadly weapon, committed by the victim's current or former domestic partner, parent or guardian. For the AD-05 level: You must meet one of the criteria listed below in A-C to qualify at this grade level:
A. Completion of at least four years of education above the high school level leading to a bachelor's degree in police science or a comparable degree program related to police officer work. Such education must be obtained from an accredited college or university.
OR
B. At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the AD-04 or GS equivalent level in the Federal sector, performing police officer work that demonstrates knowledge of a body of basic or commonly used laws, rules, regulations, procedures, and operating methods and involved responsibility for maintaining order and protecting life and property. Creditable specialized experience may have been gained in work on a police force; through service as a military police officer; in work providing visitor protection and law enforcement in parks, forests, or other natural resource or recreational environments; in performing criminal investigative duties; or in other work that provided the required knowledge or skills.
OR
C. A combination of specialized experience as described in letter B above and post high school education as described in letter A above that totals 100% of the qualification requirements for this position. (Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours can be credited under this response. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience).
For the AD-06 level: You must have at least (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the AD-05 level in the Federal sector, performing work that demonstrates knowledge of a body of standardized rules, methods, procedures, and operating techniques that requires considerable training and experience to perform a range of operations in preventing or resolving offenses, or in conducting preliminary investigations of incidents ranging from simple rule violations to felony and capital crimes. This experience must include some of the following types of duties: Pursuing and apprehending persons fleeing a crime scene; subduing individuals causing disturbances; identifying and arresting violators; seeking, detecting, and protecting evidence and witnesses at scene of accident; making arrests and performing booking procedures; participating in short-term investigations under the control of detectives or investigators.
For the AD-07 level: You must have at least (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the AD-06 level in the Federal sector, performing work that demonstrates knowledge of a body of standardized, optional, and innovative investigative procedures, techniques, and methods to detect, investigate, and resolve crimes and other incidents that are beyond the scope or requirements for solution on patrol assignments. This knowledge is used in performing a variety of standard and nonstandard assignments in resolving a wide range of conditions or criminal activities typically requiring research, interviewing, planning, observing, conducting stakeout operations, and executing investigative techniques. This experience must include most of the following types of duties: conducting long and short term investigations when solutions cannot be achieved during the course of a normal patrol shift; evaluating crime prevention programs and recommending changes to reduce opportunities for theft, assault, illegal entry, or other kinds of violations, conducting long-term investigations (several days) to detect and apprehend individuals committing acts of violence, theft of Federal or personal property, or for violating laws concerning controlled substances; developing and following leads, taking statements and otherwise gathering bits of information and facts; analyzing facts to identify suspects and develop case information; coordination with other law enforcement agencies to gather facts or evidence for use in assigned cases and preparing detailed reports.

Combining Education and
Experience: Combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements.
