Gerdau is currently seeking a Fabrication Supervisor (2nd shift) for its rebar fabrication shop in Belvidere, IL.

Position
Summary:
Plans, organizes, and monitors reinforcing steel shop operations to assure the smooth, safe and efficient stocking of inventory, fabrication of reinforcing steel, maintenance of equipment, and delivery of orders as needed to satisfy customer requirements.
Responsibilities:
Manages all reinforcing steel shop personnel, including:
Planning and coordinating all work performed
Training, motivating, disciplining and evaluating the performance of all reinforcing steel shop personnel
Ensuring the ability of all reinforcing steel shop personnel to safely perform the duties of their respective jobs
Manages reinforcing steel fabrication operations, including:
Receiving and storing of inventory
Overseeing the supplying of materials to be fabricated
Monthly inventory adjustment counts
Organizing cutting schedule to maintain optimum fabrication efficiency
Conducts and reports safety meetings for reinforcing steel shop.
Acts as first contact for environmental spills, employee accidents and safety
Maintains reinforcing steel shop equipment - ensures compliance with all safety and operational standards
Scheduling of all reinforcing steel delivery trucks
Maintains vehicle operation and maintenance records
Maintain driver files and driving records
Ensures all delivery vehicles comply with required inspections. Maintains inspection records.
Maintenance and repair of equipment and spare parts.

Qualifications include:
Bachelor's degree in a related field
2 years of supervisory experience in similar manufacturing environment or construction field preferred
Proficient with MS Outlook, Word and Excel. Experience with aSa preferred. Experience with CAD and SAP helpful.
Typically working 2nd shift Monday through Friday; must be available to work 1st shift for training and support purposes
Experience with Lean Manufacturing techniques, 5S, Six Sigma, or similar process improvement tools preferred
Must be able to lift 55 pounds to pick-up truck bed height on a regular basis
Bilingual in English and Spanish a plus
Approximately 5 - 10% travel required
Position requires prolonged work in non-heated or air conditioned environment

Working knowledge of:
System transactions, including order processing, release confirmation, receiving and cycle counts. Ability to print and examine inventory reports
Reinforcing steel fabrication equipment and techniques
Truck dispatch operations
Highway transportation regulations
OSHA and other regulatory agency requirements
