The HIM Clerk will be required to search and investigate information contained in files, accomplish reports, insert additional data in the file records, keep files current and remove / add files according to the requests. Besides, the HIM Clerk must review requests from insurance firms, physicians, hospitals, patients, receive permissions from physicians, notify requesting party of any faxes, appropriate fees or mails requested information.
Requirements
In order to cope with the HIM Clerk position duties successfully the incumbent must be able to handle every assignment satisfactorily. All the requirements mentioned below are representative of the skills, knowledge or / and ability required.
Experience or / and Educational Level:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Previous filing / office experience.
- Prefer candidate with the prior medical experience.
Language Skills:
- Ability to read and interpret short correspondence, simple instructions and memos.
- Ability to generate simple correspondence.
- Exceptional grammar, spelling and punctuation skills.
Reasoning Ability:
- Ability to solve troubles in standardized situations.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding in order to carry out instructions finished in various forms (diagram, oral and written).
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to regularly use hands and arms, to sit, hear and talk.
- Ability to frequently stand, walk and crouch, stoop, crawl or kneel.
- Ability to occasionally lift or / and move up to 25 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities are a must (distance vision, close vision, ability to adjust focus, peripheral vision).
Education
High School Diploma or equivalent.
