Sheppard Pratt at Ellicott City is an inpatient psychiatric facility in Howard County serving adults and adolescents. Prior to its affiliation with Sheppard Pratt in July, 2002, the hospital operated as Taylor Manor.
The Adolescent Inpatient Unit aims at being a short-term stabilization program that provides acute psychiatric care for patients age 12 to 17. The overall goal of treatment is rapid assessment and stabilization to assist patients and their families so that the patients can return safely to the community. Care is directed by a multi-disciplinary team, led by the psychiatrist, including social workers, nurses, recreational and art therapists, and mental health workers. The unit has 22 beds and the average length of stay is 4-7 days. A discharge planner will work with the patient and their families to plan follow-up care that is tailored to the individual's needs.
The Adolescent Inpatient Unit is looking to hire a Mental Health Worker! The Mental Health Worker, under close supervision of the Staff Nurse, participates in the planning and evaluation of patient needs based on patient behaviors. Provides direct patient care services in accordance with the treatment plan and under the direction of a professional nurse. Assists in providing a safe and therapeutic environment according to established policies and procedures.
Requires: HS Diploma or GED required. Human Services related degree or past Mental Health Worker or related experience strongly preferred. Must be available to work every other weekend. Must be able to complete required seven day initial orientation: Thursday, Friday and the following Monday through Friday from 8:00am-4:30pm, excluding Saturday and Sunday.
