Under minimal supervision and according to established policies and procedures, maintains and calibrates all anesthesia equipment in optimal working order, including sophisticated monitoring equipment for the recovery room, SDC unit, and holding areas, as well as anesthesia locations throughout the Hospital. Maintains proper stock of medications and equipment used in anesthesia, and provides assistance in setting up, maintaining, calibrating, and repairing sophisticated anesthesia equipment. Has access to non-narcotic medications and may stock and transport medication cart. Ensures quality and safe delivery of care to patients in the following age groups: All ages; Neonates; Infancy; Toddler; Preschool; School age; Adolescent; Adult; Geriatric. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND
Responsibilities: 1. Monitors and tests sophisticated anesthesia equipment (monitors, anesthesia delivery systems, etc.) to ensure proper functioning. Troubleshoots equipment problems and makes repairs as needed or calls proper service agency. Calibrates equipment in accordance with manufacturer's specifications. Maintains all records related to equipment status and repairs needed and made. Sets up and presents inservices on equipment. Performs regular maintenance on equipment, such as performance checks on monitors (EKG, blood pressure, CO2, O2, etc.) anesthesia machines, and battery powered equipment. Disassembles, cleans, and lubricates spirometers, and checks function and calibration of oxygen analyzers. Checks all gas and vacuum supply lines in walls and ceilings and makes repairs as necessary or requests services from appropriate service agency. Works with equipment sales and service representatives in discussing new products, demonstrations, and training in equipment maintenance and repair. Assists in organizing equipment evaluation, pre-purchase conferences, and equipment demonstrations as directed. Maintains abreast of changes in new equipment and procedures. Contacts service representatives to arrange for equipment repair. Packs and ships equipment for outside repairs. Acts as preceptor for PTA's learning Anesthesia Tech role. Monitors and maintains adequate supplies; obtains supplies from storeroom or initiates purchase orders. Stocks supplies as they are received. Maintains all records related to inventories and purchase orders. 2. Is responsible for setting up and maintaining all billing charges for equipment and procedures performed. Maintains all records related to tracking of monthly and annual budget reports. Assists physicians in compiling and gathering data for of the yearly budget and projections for following years. 3. Assists anesthesia staff during surgeries. Sets up equipment, such as cardiac output computers, blood warmers, IV pumps, hypo/hyperthermia machines, transducers for arterial monitoring, and so forth. May also draw blood samples from existing lines for blood gas analysis or assist the anesthesia staff in the placement of Swan-Ganz Catheters. Under supervision, routinely prepares drugs for use in the C-Section room. May also prepare drugs for use in the OR under certain situations (trauma, codes, emergencies, etc.) Maintains portable oxygen tanks in operating room and recovery room for use in transporting patients to the ICU and patient care units. 4. May give work direction to the PTA-s and provides them with information pertinent to their work assignments. 5. Coordinates the Lithotripsy Program, including maintenance of equipment and billing records.
KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE, AND OTHER JOB REQUIREMENTS: 1. The level of knowledge equivalent to that ordinarily acquired through completion of a High School Diploma plus and additional one year of training or schooling in biomedical equipment and procedures. 2. One to two years of experience in anesthesia equipment maintenance and repair.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
