MINIMUM
Qualifications:
Possession of a valid Louisiana Sanitarian's license issued by the Louisiana State Board of Examiners for Sanitarians plus two years of professional level Sanitarian experience.
SUBSTITUTIONS:
A master's degree in public health, food science, dairy science, environmental or sanitary science, or one of the physical or biological sciences will substitute for one year of the required experience.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must possess and maintain a valid Louisiana driver's license and be able to drive a vehicle to perform duties.
Positions in the Molluscan Shellfish program require that applicants complete the Louisiana Boating Education program and be certified by the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries.

Independently reviews and evaluates applications and modifications to existing permits.
Conducts inspections or complaint investigations of multiple public health environmental and consumer protection programs; prepares reports and recommends appropriate enforcement actions.
Assists and provides direction and technical advise to staff in a specialty area.
Monitors state water bodies for significant shellfish utilization by sampling for fecal coliforms; compiles reports for monitoring maximum contaminant level violations.
Operates and maintains specialized environmental monitoring equipment.
Provides technical testimony at hearings and enforcement proceedings.
Participates in emergency response activities.
Collects drinking water, sewage effluent, and food samples for analysis.
Performs related work as assigned.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
