The position is located in the BLM Utah State Office, Green River District, Division of Renewable Resources.
This is an excepted service, developmental experience appointment expected to last only 1 year under the BLM Pathways Recent Graduates Program. The BLM will require the selected applicant to complete a Participant Agreement in which it shall document the anticipated start and end dates for this developmental appointment.
The agency may noncompetitively convert a Recent Graduate who is a U. S. citizen to a term or permanent appointment in the competitive service, as long as the Recent Graduate successfully completes the BLM's 1 year developmental program and meets the OPM Qualification Standards for the targeted occupational series.

Prepare, evaluate, and conduct biological analyses of wildlife ecology and behavior as it relates to land and water resource projects.
Identify the impacts to wildlife habitat and threatened and endangered species by other resource activities.
Serve on an interdisciplinary team that will address local office wildlife and other natural resource issues.
Coordinate wildlife related programs within the field office and occasionally with other stakeholders.
To be eligible, an applicant must be: A Recent Graduate who has obtained a qualifying associates, bachelors, masters, professional, doctorate, vocational or technical degree or certificate from a qualifying educational institution within the previous two years or other applicable period.
Other applicable period may include: (1) Certain veterans precluded from applying within the timeframe described above due to a military service obligation, shall have a full 2-year period of eligibility upon his/her release or discharge from active duty. However, in no event, may the individual's eligibility period extend beyond 6 years from the date on which the individual completed the requirements of an academic course of study; and (2) Applicants who completed their educational program requirements after December 27, 2010 will have a full 2 years of eligibility beginning on the date the final regulations became effective, July 10, 2012.
_Basic Requirement_
A. Possess a Bachelor's or higher degree in biological science that included at least 9 semester hours in such wildlife subjects as mammalogy, ornithology, animal ecology, wildlife management, or research courses in the field of wildlife biology; and a least 12 semester hours in zoology in such subjects as general zoology, invertebrate zoology, vertebrate zoology, comparative anatomy, physiology, genetics, ecology, cellular biology, parasitology, entomology, or research courses in such subjects (Excess courses in wildlife biology may be used to meet the zoology requirements where appropriate.); and a least 9 semester hours in botany or the related plant sciences.
OR
B. Possess a combination of education and experience--equivalent to a major in biological science (i.e., at least 30 semester hours), with at least 9 semester hours in wildlife subjects, 12 semester hours in zoology, and 9 semester hours in botany or related plant science, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
_Minimum Qualifications GS-7_
A. Possess one year of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the GS-05 level in the Federal service knowing and applying the principles and guidance provided by the Endangered Species Act, the Federal Land Policy and Management Act (FLPMA) and related natural resource regulations and wildlife management laws; effectively communicating technical and non-technical information to a variety of audiences; and writing technical reports and evaluations.

B. Possess a Bachelor's degree and meet at least one of the requirements of Superior Academic Achievement: 1. Maintained a grade-point average of B (a GPA of 3.0 or higher) for all completed undergraduate courses, or those completed in the last two years of undergraduate study. - OR - 2. Maintained a grade-point average B+ (a GPA of 3.5 or higher) for all courses in your major field of study, or those courses in your major completed in the last two years of undergraduate study. - OR - 3. Rank in the upper one-third of your class in the college, university, or major subdivision. - OR - 4. Be a member of a national honor (other than freshman honor societies) recognized by the Association of College Honor Societies. Please submit a college transcript(s) showing your grade point average for all four years of undergraduate study, including all transferred courses. NOTE: GPA's are to rounded to one decimal place. For example, 2.95 will round to 3.0 and 2.94 will round to 2.9. If more than 10 percent of your undergraduate course work (credit hours) were taken on a pass/fail or similar basis, your claim must be based on class standing or membership in an honor society.-

C. Possess one year (18 semester hours) of graduate education in biology, wildlife management or a related field.

D. Possess a combination of specialized experience as described in A and graduate education as described in C that, when combined, equal 100% of the total requirement.
_Minimum Qualifications GS-9_
A. Possess one year of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the GS-07 level in the Federal service with working knowledge of applying the principles and guidance provided by the Endangered Species Act, the Federal Land Policy and Management Act (FLPMA) and related natural resource regulations; Knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of wildlife management; effectively communicating complex technical concepts related to biological wildlife and non-technical information to a variety of audiences; and writing technical reports and evaluations.
OR
B. Possess a Master's degree in biology, wildlife management or a related field.

C. Possess a combination of specialized experience as described in A above and graduate education as described in B above that, when combined, equals 100% of the total requirement. (Please note that only graduate education in excess of the first 18 semester hours may be used in this calculation.)
