The Dispatcher position efficiently plans and coordinates all plant activities related to freight including production scheduling, dispatching trucks negotiating freight rates with contract carriers. Key Duties of the Position Include: a)Coordinates Scotts and Growing Media freight ensuring maximum efficiency as well as timely deliveries. b)Negotiates freight rates with contract carriers. c)Maintains and processes all necessary records and paperwork to ensure that private fleet as well as contract carriers are in compliance with state, federal and local regulations. Confirms and/or processes orders and bills of lading d)Advises customers on delivery scheduling and order problems; develops production schedules in conjunction with Production Supervisor; works with production personnel and other Growing Media Plants to coordinate shipments; responds to inquiries from customers, truck drivers, corporate personnel, etc. e)Performs special projects and other office duties as requested. f)Supervises work activities of truck drivers. Schedules, assigns and reviews work, interviews and recommends hiring of applicants, evaluates employee work performance, and recommends and/or implements disciplinary action. May also supervise hourly employees in field or production activities during the off-season or as needed.
Qualifications: Equivalent Education Level Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent. Experience Required: Two years experience in a traffic or freight related field. Knowledge of local freight lanes is preferred. Knowledge Required: Knowledge of state, local and federal DOT regulations Ability to follow office procedures. Ability to manage multiple priorities at once. Ability to communicate verbally. Detail oriented. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide numbers and calculate percentages. Strong customer service orientation. Job: AdministrationEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
