Description
Position Summary
The Field Support Analyst (FSA) directly supports the fielding, set-up, integration, use, and training of U.S. Government S2MC logistics software applications. The FSA provides direct field support to the customer garrison, training and operational missions. The FSA works with customers to set-up, integrate and operate S2MC (BCS3, BCS3-NM and LRT) applications in garrison, operational and tactical environments. The FSA will resolve network and connectivity issues, understand the applications (BCS3, BCS3-NM, LRT), interface with other C2 systems, understand the applications directory system, file transfer and data storage methodology. FSA will be a primary trainer as well as troubleshooter for the applications, the systems and hardware that it connects to and resides upon.
Primary Job Functions
Service machines on a daily basis
Over the shoulder and classroom training when available, development and monitoring of NIPR/SIPR feed that populates on BCS3.
Briefing OIC's on the capabilities of BCS3 and what it can do for their sections
Submit Field Exercise Opening and Closing Reports
Relay the needs of the using units to the PD S2MC focals and TCS Focals for implementation.
Continuously monitor feeds into DFG and destination folders
Ensure customer satisfaction, always keeping the user informed at all times
Train military, government and selected contractors on the use of BCS3, BCS3-NM, LRT,and other TCS C4I applications.
Troubleshoot any problems that arise with the set-up or use of the systems. In particular, be familiar with networking and firewall issues that may prohibit effective use of the systems for NIPR/SIPR Networks.
Perform duties supporting operations centers, movement control activities, support and logistic operations activities. In these instances, the FSR will evaluate the mission of the organization supported and relate the information requirements to the application being supported and provide relevant information that supports the command's decision making process.
Conducts analysis of complex problems, performs software engineering analysis, computer modeling, computer simulation analysis and design, and process analysis. Provide support to the mission planning and mission execution processes.
Conduct upgrading and system burn-in/testing of new software releases for relevant C4I systems as well as all the latest Security updates and the latest Anti-Virus updates. This includes conducting a software evaluation of data feeds, information presentation, and QA testing of the new release.
Support technical operational center and help desk requirements in support of BCS3, GDMS or other TCS C4I products.
Understand how BCS3 operates in an ABCS environment with several different systems operating in the same classified network. Required to have knowledge of sharing of graphics, operation orders, position reports and various logistical messages with the Battle Command Server and other systems operating in the ABCS Network
Duties include; responding to trouble-tickets, problem diagnosis, user assistance, user and maintenance documentation, and systems performance evaluation. Manage software changes, install software and anti-virus updates, perform virus detection/eradication, complete site surveys for design and configuration changes, support integration of new applications and tools, conduct routine file back up for user and systems data, develop and maintain recovery tasks, maintain documentation and reporting to customer of software problems from users or field systems administrators.
In addition the FSA will maintain all files, monitor systems performance, maintain user and administrators log, and provide ad-hoc or periodic reports as well as monitor data destinations and provide real time visibility on system performance, timeliness and connectivity.
Have a good understanding of BCS3 Networks, Data Feeds and configuration settings for BCS3 as it relates to JDLM for Simulation Events. Know how to analyze Logistical Data from JDLM as it populates and adjusts databases in BCS3.

Education and/or Experience
Entry Level: High School diploma or GED; 1 year of experience in the field required.
Intermediate Level: AA degree or 2 years technical school; 3 years minimum experience required; 4 years of additional direct relevant technical experience may be substituted for education.
Journeyman Level: AA degree or 2 years technical school; 5 years minimum experience required; 8 years of direct relevant technical experience may be substituted for education.
Experience in one or more of the following areas are considered important. Relevant IT management, software engineering & administration, operational support in Logistics, Simulation, Training and Technical systems experience including, but is not limited to, IT management of distributed systems, operational planning, any Military logistics (deployment, movement, and sustainment operations), Command & Control systems, maneuver control, supply chain management, supply resource analysis and movement planning, system integration; experience in gathering data to solve complex technical problems and performing analysis of that data; producing and reviewing test steps for measuring product or performance of computer systems and; interpreting evaluation and test results and developing recommendations for improvements or changes.
Specific experience can include work with the IT departments, large scale computer system management, the US Military as activity duty or contractor with operations, logistics, training with a computer science emphasis; and experience working with the following models to include Joint Deployment Logistics Model (JDLM), Vision XXI, CSS/TSS, GTN, GDSS, JCATS, BCS3, GDMS, LCOP, C4I & C2 systems, BCS3-NM and other Large Scale Computer systems, models and planning tools. Knowledge in software installation, set-up procedures and user training as it relates to US Military training tools and large scale computer environments. Other relevant experience includes operating system set-up and working knowledge of Logistics Operations
Skills and Abilities
This position also requires strong analytical and computer skills background; logistics experience desired. In addition, the FSR must be able to operate with deployed and CONUS based military operations centers and field based commands. These locations may be in austere environments and be physically separated from substantial life support and other TCS personnel. The ability to work independently as well as within a team environment and under stressful conditions is essential.
Physical Demands
This position requires the employee carry a pack (30 lbs) for extended periods of time, often working at the computer viewing the screens and typing, communicating on the phone. Duties may be carried out in extremely hot and dusty environments and in the vicinity of hostile fire. These areas may be considered combat zones by the DoD and in certain conditions the employee may be required to carry a weapon for personal self defense
Candidate Requirement
The candidate must be in possession of a U.S. government issued Secret security clearance.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
