Job Description
Provide laboratory data for the safe, reliable, environmentally sound, and efficient operation of plant equipment.
Required Skills
This position requires frequent standing, walking, reaching above shoulder level, and lifting up to 10 pounds, and occasional sitting, walking, bending, climbing, kneeling, lifting up to 50 pounds, reaching below shoulder level, crawling, turning valves, using keyboard/computer, pushing up to 25 pounds, and pulling up to 50 pounds. The incumbent uses tools to adjust, align, and calibrate lab equipment. Good color vision and hearing, and the ability to weigh/measure; conduct research and analyze data and reports; implement recommendations; direct others; and develop plant, procedures and goals. The incumbent may be required to work under pressure. Over 50%25%20of the day is spent working indoors around large industrial operating equipment. Frequently works in noisy conditions and with chemicals; and occasionally around dirt, dust, fumes, chemicals, extreme heat and cold, vibration, and poor ventilation. Occasionally works in confined areas, at heights up to 300 feet, and in areas of electrical risks. This position must be respirator qualified. The incumbent works with tools and equipment that include a forklift, motor vehicles, small pumps, and laboratory equipment.
Required Experience
To perform effectively in this position, the incumbent must have knowledge of math and chemistry at a level acquired through completion of a four year degree with emphasis in chemistry plus two years of lab technician experience; OR two years of college chemistry plus four years of lab technician experience, of which three years must have been as an apprentice laboratory technician; OR six years of related lab tech experience. Working knowledge of laboratory techniques and instruments; basic computer skills with proficiency in Word, Excel, and Outlook. A valid driver's license.
