Project Engineering Manager I

Manage all aspects of engineering for a subset of related projects in Quick Reaction Capability (QRC) development and deployment environment.
The PEM I position requires the candidate to coordinate and manage the engineering activities on the assigned program(s) to comply with cost, schedule and technical requirements and rapid development engineering practices in order to meet program commitments. Direct staff activities on one or more small projects of: a) Development (design, test, debug, qualification, and production support) of new RF emitter mapper, signal exploitation, and EW capabilities implemented in RF and digital hardware, DSP software and firmware, and use of outside suppliers for selected capabilities; b)Provide direction of engineering production support for small quantity production of systems and spares. Or c) field calibration, field and platform integration activities, and support for operational customers CONUS and OCONUS. Plan engineering activities, including budgeting, scheduling, and identifying the necessary support staff.
The desired candidate will be a good decision maker that has experience in military sensor electronics, managing projects and leading/coordinating the engineering activities of others. Good interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with customers are also required.
Initially, the Candidate will be assigned to assist a more senior PEM in execution of one or more programs. As his/her Skill level and domain knowledge increases, the expectation is that he/she will take ownership of the engineering efforts on an entire engineering effort and will be subsequently be assigned increasing levels of responsibility on increasingly complex programs.
Required Skills and Education
- Bachelor Degree in Engineering
- MUST HAVE A ACTIVE SECRET CLEARANCE
- 10 plus years of experience. 3
years as a team leader responsible for work execution
- Serve as primary technical POC to the senior PEM to assist in identification of potential integration strategies, and overall technical execution of the programs.
- Plan, schedule, direct, technical activities.
- Prepare and present information required to effectively communicate project progress and results.
- Establish and implement project detailed plans, schedules, and budgets
- Organize project and task workloads and select individuals most qualified for assignments on specific tasks.
- Work with Program Management to identify staffing needs and communicate those needs to the functional engineering organizations and Product Realization Group Lead.
- Ability to interact within the Customer community, internally, and with our business partners.
- Team player with a proactive attitude and ability to be productive in a dynamic environment.
- Willingness to work in a dynamic customer environment and ability to prioritize and quickly change direction, based on customer direction.
- Good verbal and written communications skills.
Preferred Skills and Education
Preferred domain
Experience: Geolocation and exploitation of communications and infrastructure signals, or other signal processing-based sensor capability, Development, COTS Integration, SCRUM. Prefer active TS-SCI clearance.
