How you will contribute
Valmont is currently seeking a highly motivated and talented individual for the Shipping Coordinator position in the Global Utility Division. We are looking for a highly driven individual that will coordinate with trucking and rail carriers to ensure that inbound orders are shipped on time and in the most cost effective method to ensure production can be completed by the customer requested delivery dates. Additionally, you will
Monitor shipping costs and service histories of all carriers of Valmont products
Create bills of lading ad all other necessary paperwork for shipment of the product
Perform freight rating and cost negotiating with carriers
Maintain a timely and accurate flow of shipping documents to the Shipping Department
Prepare required loading and shipping documents for inbound shipments
Arrange for the most cost efficient means of bringing in product to the site while ensuring its delivery meets production requirements for the purpose of meeting the customers' deadlines
Function as backup to the Logistics Coordinator
What it takes
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalency
Previous experience in a picking, packing, shipping, or distribution position
A strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Microsoft Outlook
Excellent communication skills for the purpose of negotiating with carriers and working with the team
The ability to work in a high volume, fast paced environment
Highly qualified candidates will also possess:
Associates degree in business or logistics related education
Two years of previous experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment
The ability to make accurate and timely decisions
The ability to recognize and solve practical problems or issues
The ability to pay attention to detail and follow work instructions
The ability to communicate and interact with coworkers in a positive manner
Must be a person of passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results
