Bioinformatics and Research Support Manager - Ardmore, OK Kelly Services is currently seeking a Bioinformatics and Research Support Manager for one of our top clients in Ardmore, OK. As a Bioinformatics and Research Support Manager placed with Kelly Services, you will be responsible for the provision of quality bioinformatics services to the Foundation's research groups, planning of computational research infrastructure, management of scientific software development and leadership of a scientific support services team. The successful candidate will have a biological sciences research background, strong technical knowledge from hardware through software, expertise in the field of bioinformatics, and strong leadership experience in a similar environment, having demonstrated a vision for provision of computational services to researchers, and the ability to manage day-to-day operations in a research services group. This is not a research position. The successful applicant will not be looking to lead their own research, but to instead contribute to many other researchers' work through the provision of computational services. Excellent communication and organizational skills are a must, as is a customer service focus. Job SummaryCoordinate and manage projects for the Bioinformatics and Research Support team. Provide strategic direction by identifying opportunities for innovation and process improvement in informatics strategies to support researcher needs. Provide team leadership by facilitating professional growth in team members and fostering an environment of teamwork, accountability, and technical innovation. Define management strategies for scientific data storage, processing, sharing, community standard compliance and quality control. Provide quality bioinformatics services to the Foundation's research groups. Essential FunctionsSupervision - Responsible for planning and delegating the work ensuring adequate staffing and scheduling; Provide employees guidance and direction to meet work objectives; Actively monitor employee activities and work performance; Provide instruction and corrective guidance as needed; Report through appropriate channels issues of concern and policy violations; Provide budget recommendations and use proper discretion in budget expendituresProject Coordination - Prioritize and coordinate team's efforts; Assign project tasks and milestones; Provide routine activity and status reports for ongoing projects; Manage project assignments to ensure compliance with departmental and industry standards and best practices; Facilitate, schedule and coordinate team meetings; Communicate project status to management and researchers; Identify and prioritize requests in line with the progress of research projects in the Foundation; Serve as primary contact for team projects Strategic Direction - Continually evaluate and recommend new technology platforms and initiatives to support researcher needs; Identify opportunities for innovation and process improvement; Provide data analysis services to assist scientific problem solving in a broad range of research topics; Provide expert consultation, technical, and scientific support for data managementSupport - Provide escalated support for both custom and purchased applications; Provide training on custom and commercial systems to end user community; Document system architecture and operational practicesScientific Writing - Assist with grant applications and manuscript writing related to informatics componentsQualificationsMinimum five years' experience with next-generation sequencing data (Illumina, 454, etc.), gene expression analysis (primarily RNA-seq and microarray), and knowledge of basic molecular biology, genomics, genetics, and transcriptomics concepts required; proficiency in at least one common programming or scripting language, with Linux and relational databases required; GWAS and GBS knowledge preferred.Demonstrated leadership experience required; experience in a managerial capacity highly preferred EducationA doctorate in bioinformatics, computer science or a related field is required ExperienceMinimum five years' experience with next-generation sequencing data (Illumina, 454, etc.), gene expression analysis (primarily RNA-seq and microarray), and knowledge of basic molecular biology, genomics, genetics, and transcriptomics concepts required; The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
