following area:
Job # 14-0037 - Mechancial, Measurement Technician - Rawlins, WYMechanical:This position is accountable, under intermittent supervision, for installation, monitoring, diagnosis, repairand preventative maintenance of electronic, pneumatic, mechanical and hydraulic instrumentation. Thistechnician may receive work related guidance from more senior technicians and support personnel, but it
is also expected that this technician will provide guidance and training to less experienced
personnel. This individual must perform non-destructive testing and analysis on rotating and auxiliary
equipment and control systems in a designated area of a natural gas pipeline system.
Measurement:
This position is accountable under intermittent supervision for installation, monitoring and preventive
maintenance of measurement, regulating, related auxiliary equipment and facilities in a designated area
of a natural gas pipeline system.
Primary Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
? Performs various testing (ultrasonic, vibration, emissions, etc.) and recording of data on rotating
and prime mover equipment; electronic, pneumatic and hydraulic control devices; safety
systems; piping; vessels and other associated equipment and systems
? Performs both routine and advanced analyses of tests under supervision and diagnoses the
results to supervisor
? Performs installation and maintenance on control devices, safety systems and other related
electronic, pneumatic and hydraulic equipment
? Become qualified on Common Covered Tasks (OQ) as deemed necessary by Mechanical
Services Management
? Performs testing, calibration and preventative maintenance on measurement, regulation and
ancillary equipment
? Properly operates and provides general maintenance of various specialty equipment including
but not limited to dew point analyzers, H2S analyzers, chromatographs, telemeter
transmitters/receivers, and gas detection equipment
? Performs installation and modifications of measurement equipment and related piping
Key Job
Responsibilities:
Maintenance, Troubleshooting, & Prevention
? Operate 2 and 4 Cycle engines? Knowledge of pneumatic and electronic controls, Including Allen-Bradley PLC Control
Systems, and all types of process transmitters and transducers
? Ability to use diagnostic equipment for troubleshooting and data collection? Knowledge of electrical systems up to 120/240 VAC and 24 V DC and ability to use multi-
meter for troubleshooting
Install, repair, service and maintain station valves and valve operators
Knowledge of Emergency Shutdown Systems, including Fire and Gas detection systems as
well as piping, valves and control signals
? Ensure the reliability and efficient performance of all engines and associated facilities? Working and theoretical knowledge of the operations of compressor and auxiliary engines,
motors, cooling equipment, pumps and related equipment
? Knowledge of operation of engines and compressors as well as associated compressor station
controls
? Knowledge working with electronic measurement, chromatographs, communications and
SCADA equipment as used in natural gas transmission facilities
? Knowledge and understanding of fundamentals of metering and regulating equipment
Compliance
? Comply with applicable Company policies and procedures, maintenance manuals, federal,
state and local regulations, and safety policies and procedures
? Schedule and track maintenance and calibration activities with maintenance management
software
Identify and report safety and environmental concerns
Ensure all required documentation and paperwork is completed in a timely manner, along
with required Common Covered Tasks, as assigned
? Performs inspections of overpressure devices and pressure regulating equipment in accordance
with SSCGP O&M; policies
? Compiles and maintains basic records and reports
Analysis
? Read, interpret and recommend modifications to blueprints, schematics, control drawings,
engine manuals and pipeline maps
? Make recommendations to enhance safety, reliability and efficiency of operations
? Performs various analyses of tests and diagnoses the results which are communicated to
supervision
? Obtains gas or liquid samples for analysis of components
Training & Collaboration
? Assist Operations personnel in performing technical and non-technical tasks? Assist engineering personnel with construction activities? Assist Operations Control in establishing safe efficient operations? Oversee construction and/or maintenance activities performed by third parties? Assist in training other employees in area of expertise as requested using variety of training
methods (verbal and written)
? Attend job related training when applicable
Perform other duties as assigned by supervision
Physical Requirements
Primary physical requirements include (but not limited to): Working in extreme temperatures, both hot
and cold. Lifting and pulling of up to 80 pounds. Working with and/or around chemicals. Repetitive lifting,
stooping, crawling, walking standing and sitting. Working in high or elevated areas. Monitor multiple
functions with multiple required tasks. The work environment will include extreme weather conditions
and high noise levels. Travel of up to 25-50% of time, which will require overnight stays. Long distance
driving in both day and night hours. Flexibility of working unscheduled overtime based on business
needs. Long periods of inputting data into measurement specific software. On call for emergencies
within designated area.
Qualifications
Minimum:
? Two-year associate degree in internal combustion engines and gas turbines or electronics,
instrumentation,or equivalent work experience as determined by the Company
? Relevant experience working in the natural gas industry or a related field? Demonstrated moderate to superior oral and written communications skills? Demonstrated leadership skills (internally or externally)? Demonstrated problem-solving skills? Valid driver's license and insurability? Demonstrated ability to be a self-starter? Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment? Experience working in a scheduled structured, deadline driven environment? Basic computer skills Windows based and Microsoft Office Programs
Preferred:
? Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Technology with emphasis on Mechanical, Communications
Systems or Electronics or related degree
? Experience in natural gas industry? Experience developing and delivering training curricula in area of expertise? Experience in internal combustion engines and gas turbines
