The University of Massachusetts Donahue Institute is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Senior Research Analyst in the Institute-s Economic and Public Policy Research Unit (EPPR). EPPR conducts industry analyses, regional economic studies and public policy reports on topics of interest to policymakers in government, business, and academia. Senior Research Analysts support the work of the Unit through project management assistance, quantitative data analysis, surveys and interviews. Depending upon the qualifications of the successful applicant, the position may entail significant writing duties and some independent project management. Typically, Senior Research Analysts work collaboratively under the direction of a project manager and Senior Research Manager and/or the EPPR Director.
Job Description:
Senior Research Analysts are expected to be proficient in the use of professional office software, and specialized software such as STATA. Senior Research Analysts work with public data sources from the U.S. Census and Commonwealth of Massachusetts, as well as private data providers to extensively analyze social, economic, and demographic conditions. Senior Research Analysts prepare charts and tables, maps, memoranda, and write sections of report. In addition to quantitative methods, Senior Research Analysts conduct field research through interviews, surveys, focus groups, and literature reviews. Additionally, Senior Research Analysts will manage selected projects as assigned. Successful applicants will have academic training and practical experience with one or more research methods.
Qualifications:
A Master's degree in economics, public policy, planning, or a related discipline and at least two to three years relevant experience is preferred. The successful applicant will have excellent verbal and written communications skills; strong quantitative and analytical skills; ability to work independently, and engage in collaborative research in a team setting. Knowledge of professional software is required; the ideal candidate will have experience with STATA or a similar statistical software package, GIS software, and/or related social science analytical software.
Comments:
The University of Massachusetts Donahue Institute-s plan to fill and retain this position is dependent upon project funding. No relocation assistance is provided. The work location for this position is in our Hadley office.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
