PRIMARY FUNCTION:Assemble and test fire detection products according to drawings and procedures.TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT: Soldering Iron, Wave Soldering Machine, P.W.B. Cleaning Machine, Assembly Equipment, Drill Press, Denison Hydraulic Press, Thermatron, Vibration Machine, Coating Machine, Heat Gun, Hand Tools, Ionograph, Wire Cutting Machine, Hypot, Oven, Solder Pot, Power Supply, Test Box, Aqueous Batch Cleaner, Cell TesterMATERIALS: PC Boards, Various Electronic PartsDUTIES:- Train for certification in soldering and assembly of electronic devices.- Set-up and run equipment in department such as Wave Soldering, P.W.B. Cleaning Machine, Drill Press, Denison Hydraulic Press as well as , surface mount technology assembly equipment, component lead tinning equipment and S.M.T. Re-flow equipment.- Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, assembly instructions, assembly processes specification, test reports, and test procedures.- Perform some subassembly testing.- Obtain parts, materials, and tooling for assembly.- Assemble small electronic components to printed circuit boards, solder wiring harnesses to relay connector assemblies and P.W.B. s.- Must be trained to handle electronic components properly to prevent ESD damage.- Fabricate instrument parts by crimping, staking, and cutting. Perform inspection of parts, does coating, labeling/boxing, and general preparation for shipment.- Check parts for cracks, loose connections, faulty bonds, and faulty assembly.- Test parts by connecting to test equipment setting controls, observing readings and actions of instrument checking for malfunctions and immersing in water.- Record test results in testing log.- Route products for rework or salvage of usable parts.- Route reworked assemblies for testing.- Rework assemblies by examining parts and testing continuity of circuitry.- Install work piece in machine and operate machine.- Assemble PC boards according to blueprint specifications and production standards with 0% defects.- Solder PC boards backs using wave-soldering machine.- Clean completed assemblies.- Maintain materials, equipment, and work area in a clean and orderly condition.HAZARDS ASSOCIATED WITH JOB:- Skin contact with chemicals, solutions, adhesives, or glues.- Eye contact from splashes of chemicals, solutions, adhesives, or glues.- Back strains from improper lifting techniques.- Finger/hand nicks, cuts, and abrasions from using hand tools.- Minor burns from soldering iron or heat EQUIPMENT REQUIRED: -Safety Glasses or Goggles-ESD Static Coat-Grounding Strap (when in contact with sensitive electronic materials)-Local Ventilation-Eye Wash Station
