The Market & Modeling Analyst is accountable for the data collection, analysis, reporting & process support of group & membership forecasting, rate position & market & competitive intelligence activities to inform & drive line of business performance.
Essential Functions:
Manage & maintain processes for populating & running models to determine local market rate position by line of business
Provide analytical support to market/competitive analyses & forecasting activities to support Commercial book & lines of business
Collect & analyze rate data & other information as warranted to determine KP-s relative market position using established interregional procedures & best practices
Maintain local competitive rate database as well as related primary research data related to employer rates, & indicators of key market forces & competitor performance & maneuvers
Responsible for operating forecasting tool maintenance & project planning (calendar & task coordination) for the production of annual regional operating, rate setting, strategic plan & MOB forecasts as well as quarterly re-forecasts & forecasting tracking
Per direction of Forecasting Modeling & Market/Competitive Intelligence Consultants, provide geo-coded analyses & maps of KP & marketplace demographics, membership & other variables, & run models to understand impacts of market dynamics, including but not limited to, economic & competitive scenarios Maintains current information & knowledge of all applicable Kaiser policies, local, state & federal laws & regulations, & accreditation standards
Maintains & supports a culture of compliance, ethics & integrity
Maintains knowledge of policies & procedures & performs in accordance w/ the Principles of Responsibilities & applicable regulatory requirements, external laws & accreditation standards
Appropriately reports observed fraud or abuse
In addition to defined technical requirements, accountable for consistently demonstrating service behaviors & principles defined by the KP Service Quality Credo, the KP Mission as well as specific departmental/organizational initiatives
Also accountable for consistently demonstrating the knowledge, skills, abilities, & behaviors necessary to provide superior & culturally sensitive service to each other, to our members, & to purchasers, contracted providers & vendors
Qualifications:
Basic
Qualifications:
A minimum of 5 years of experience in statistical research & using mathematical techniques to solve complex analytical problems
Strong background in quantitative & qualitative analytic methods
Bachelor-s degree in economics, business, mathematics, statistics or related quantitative field
Equivalent experience considered
Good written & oral communication & interpersonal skills
Strong organizational & analytical skills, attention to detail & intrinsic editorial expertise
Demonstrated ability to effectively use software similar to Excel, Access, SAS, Business Objects & PowerPoint, as well as learn new software applications as needed, & familiarity w/ basic data mining & modeling techniques
Ability to multi-task & adapt within a constantly changing environment
Self-motivated w/ the ability to work independently, needing minimum direction
An enthusiastic attitude
Familiar w/ health insurance plan types/benefits & their associated rate structure
Familiar w/ economic concepts & associated indicators as they relate to market analysis, problem solving & forecasting
Familiar w/ market research & competitive assessment techniques
