Job Description
The Maine Wood Products Association, a 501 (c) (6) non-profit corporation, seeks a confident, innovative and collaborative leader with a passion for the forest products industry and the state Maine, to serve as its next Executive Director.
The Executive Director reports directly to the Board of Directors and coordinates and directs all programs and activities of MWPA to achieve the mission of the Association and support the board of directors. The Executive Director is a part time position (25 - 30 Hours) that allows the individual to work from home with a flexible schedule.
The Director also oversees the finances and management of the Guild of Maine Woodworkers.
The Director's primary functions are:
Support, direct, grow, and bring together current and new membership
Ensure the implementation of daily, operational activities.
Identify, develop and oversee programs and activities to meet the needs of the membership.
Administer the Workplace Innovation and Workforce Development Grant.
Oversee all financial activities of organization and report to the treasurer.
Provide outreach to partners and other suitable organizations in order to obtain information to present to the association.
Perform other duties as assigned by the MWPA board of directors.
Specific tasks and Association activities include
Recruiting, retaining and supporting membership base.
Acting as primary contact for members, prospective members, and potential customers for our members, and all general inquiries of the Association.
Managing MWPA website, Facebook Page, and producing monthly electronic newsletter.
Plan and manage the Annual Meeting and the Pine Tree Award, including all finances relating to each event, also including occasional personal attendance at the event to coordinate exhibit space and help promote our members and our Association.
Assuring that the association's community and public relations for its missions, programs, and services are consistently presented in a strong, positive image to its members and the public.
Support the planning and scheduling of various membership events during the year such as tours, workshops, and seminars as directed by the board.
Management of MWPA finances, along with providing information and reports as needed for MWPA Treasurer for Board meetings and State and Federal tax filings.
Preparing yearly budget, maintaining official records and proper documents and ensuring that the association is in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
Providing outreach to partners and other suitable organizations in order to obtain information to present to the association.
Maintaining a working knowledge of significant developments and trends in the forest products field.
The successful candidate will have experience in the forest products industry. The director will exhibit experience in areas of project management, human resource management, public relations and marketing, fiscal management, event, program design and implementation, community relations and grant writing.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
