Candidate must have Database Administration (DBA) experience in a PeopleSoft environment and experience with Change Assistant and Integration Broker. Candidate would be responsible for providing technical support for maintenance of complex database structures and associated applications, which includes development of databases, performance tuning, backup and recovery, release of upgrades, and post-upgrade validation reviews. PeopleSoft Certified in Database Administration for Oracle and Peoplesoft Service Administration & Installation. Experience in PeopleSoft database design and administration or equivalent, experience in the analysis/tuning of databases for PeopleSoft applications, UNIX experience, Shell Scripting experience, procedural language (PL/SQL) knowledge and experience, thorough understanding of current database releases. It is preferred, but not required that candidate have experience in at least one implementation or upgrade project.
Primarily works in an O&M environment, responsible for production support and management of the PeopleSoft environments from the web server/Middleware perspective.
Works in close collaboration with the PeopleSoft development and DBA teams as well as hardware and network areas as required.
Researches, analyzes, evaluates, and stays current on industry best practice standards for these technologies.
Installs, maintains, monitors and reports on web/Application Server tier components in a complex redundant, load balanced environment.
Performs migrations, applies bundles/Maintenance packs/Tax updates
Essential Job Functions
Monitors database activity and file usage, and ensures necessary resources are present. Determines data to collect and analyzes information as appropriate. Investigates and resolves technical database issues of significance. Oversees the analysis and determination of database performance characteristics, informational needs and elements, data relationships and attributes, proposed manipulation, data flow and storage requirements, and data output and reporting capabilities for more complex databases. Recommends and implements tuning opportunities to improve system response and run times. Defines logical attributes and data inter-relationships and designs complex data structures to accommodate database production implementation, storage, maintenance and accessibility to enhance performance. Optimizes database accessibility by developing load balancing architectures and processes to eliminate down time for backup processes. Limits database accessibility based upon information security level and ensures data spillage from more secure to less secure databases does not occur. Implements and supports database security regulations, policies, and guidelines. Monitors security bulletins to obtain information of potential threats; installs necessary security patches to ensure ongoing database security. Plans and installs upgrades of database management systems (DBMS) software as necessary to enhance database performance. Researches various hardware and software products; recommends solution and implements approved products. Functions as a technical project leader or provides work leadership for less experienced personnel on a portfolio of databases, including installations and upgrades of DBMS software and backup/recovery strategies. Reviews and approves application and database design decisions to ensure that application solutions exhibit high levels of performance, security, scalability, maintainability, and reliability upon deployment. Assists project managers in the development of project plans including detailed project estimates and tasks required for database activities. Utilizes standard corporate tools to record change and problem activities for tracking purposes. Integrates databases and commercial of the shelf software; resolves conflicts between databases and of the shelf software, operating systems, and open source applications. Designs and tests database installation, implementation, and recovery scenarios. Determines test to use and collects appropriate data according to established guidelines. Participates in analysis, development and implementation of unique database recovery plans in response to client-impacting outages.Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience Bachelor's degree in computer science, management information systems, or related field preferred Six or more years of experience in database design or maintenance Experience working with computer hardware and software installation/upgrading procedures Experience working with database and system maintenance procedures Experience working with database creation techniques and database management systems (DBMS) features Experience working with database performance tuningDesired Skills:
Knowledge of Business continuity and disaster recovery Knowledge of Financials 9.x, EPM 9.x, HCM 9.x and Interaction Hub 9.1 applications Knowledge of Oracle Secure Enterprise Search. Knowledge of PeopleTools Test Framework. Knowledge of PeopleSoft Update Manager, STAT, Foglight, Infosphere Good analytical and problem solving skillsOther Qualifications
6 to 10 years of experience, Bachelor's degree preferred. Advanced experience performing Admin tasks and managing an enterprise PeopleSoft 9.x applications with PeopleTools 8.53. Advanced experience managing critical corporate applications in a multitier enterprise environment. Ability to leverage tools to troubleshoot these environments with emphasis on SQRs, PeopleCode, application engine, process schedulers, application messaging and app/web Servers. Should be skilled in Shell Scripts and be able to develop scripts for automation of tasks. Should be skilled in documentation of the environments using industry standard tools and methodologies. Ability to work in a dynamic 24x7 production support environment. Ability to work in an on call rotation and provide afterhours support. Should be skilled in Application Upgrades/PeopleTools upgrades using Change Assistant. Integration Broker setup and administration. Experience with Solaris SPARC, Windows 2008 R2, Understand Oracle database structures as related to PeopleSoft applications. Good programming skills for database management and general software Good communication skills Leadership skills to guide work teams Ability to work in a team environment Ability to anticipate problems and take decisive actionEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
