Orgill, Inc, a hardlines distribution giant for over 165 years, is currently seeking a professional and experienced Transportation Supervisor to be a part of the Hurricane Distribution team. The purpose of this position is to oversee, under the direction of the transportation operations manager, the daily activities and workload of the delivery fleet across the Western States.
Responsibilities include
Plan work assignments and equipment allocations to meet transportation, operations and production goals.
Direct delivery drivers in transportation services, such as moving, storing, and delivering quality product to customers.
Confer with supervisors, customers, contractors and other personnel to exchange information to solve problems regarding freight flow.
Monitor field work to ensure proper performance and use of vehicles and material
Plan and establish transportation routes.
Ensure all DOT and company regulations are adhered to by the workforce.
Conduct safety training on and off-site locations; travel may be required 10% of time.
Qualifications include
Working knowledge and experience in a logistics role in applying principles and methods of moving goods by road, including the relative costs and benefits.
Experience in motivating, developing and directing people as they work, identifying the best people for the job.
Knowledge and experience with Department of Transportation (DOT) laws and regulations and ensuring the workforce is in compliant with such laws.
Strong understanding of interstates and highway systems in the Western States' regions and potential obstacles that could delay, damage, or impede timely delivery.
Intermediate computer skills, such as Microsoft Office software, MapPoint, and other relevant logistic systems
High school diploma or equivalent is required; bachelor's degree in a related field is preferredEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
