Job Description Part of General Dynamics Marine Systems, Bath Iron Works is a full service shipyard specializing in the design, building and support of complex surface combatants for the U.S. Navy. Our summer internship program provides students with meaningful work experiences in their program of study and an increased awareness of our work environment.
Bath Iron Works is located on the coast of Maine in the city of Bath, 2.5 hours north of Boston, MA and 45 minutes from Maine's largest city, Portland. We are actively recruiting candidates pursuing degrees in the following areas:
Business
Civil Engineering (Including Structural Engineering)
Electrical Engineering
Manufacturing and/or Manufacturing Business Management
Mechanical Engineering
Marine Engineering
Naval Architecture
Non-Destructive Technical Engineering
Planning
Program Finance
Safety/Environmental Engineering
Supply Chain Management
System Integration
Legal - Employment/Labor
Typical department placements include; Engineering, Design, Finance, Labor Relations, Materials/Quality, Manufacturing Operations, Safety & Legal/Labor Relations. Applicants will only be considered for positions that match their academic degree programs.
The internship program begins May 18th and runs until August 7th.
Required Education/Training Completion of junior year (typically 90 credits) towards a B.S. degree in Engineering, Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Finance or a related field.
For positions within the Legal area, completion of 2L year required.
Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (out of 4).
Must currently be enrolled in BS or MS Academic Program.
Experience Excellent verbal and written communications skills
Self motivation and the ability to contribute as a team member
General computer skills and a knowledge of MS Office Suite
Ability to organize, plan and execute projects
Research skills and attention to detail
Unique/Additional Requirements Some positions may require US Citizenship

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
