Job Description The successful candidate will serve as the section manager for the warehouse supervisory team. This team is responsible to manage multiple trade disciplines such as Material Handlers, Heavy Equipment Operators, Preservation Technicians, Administrative Technicians, and Planning Technicians at Consolidated Warehouse.
Supervise receiving and shipping operations.
Supervise weekly metric development.
Champion safety initiatives for the warehouses.
Drive continuous process improvement initiatives.
Work closely with Inventory Control to complete all required cycle counts.
Assist Warehousing & Traffic Operations Manager with indicatives as assigned.
Coach and mentor employees.
Required Education/Training Graduate BIW Apprenticeship program, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
BS in business or logistics management is preferred.
Experience Experience in materials management required.
Prior supervisory experience is required; supervisory experience in an organized labor environment required.
Knowledge of material practices at BIW.
Solid background and understanding of MACPAC and BMCS.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities.
Strong problem solving skills, and the ability to manage conflict.
Strong written and oral communication skills required.
Strong PC skills. Must be proficient in Microsoft desktop suite.
Self motivated individual with positive attitude.
Must obtain a passion for continuous process improvement and a be disciplined to drive process sustain.
Unique/Additional Requirements Knowledge of Lean methodology.
Knowledge of Hazardous Materials shipping and storage practices.
Must have the ability to obtain a security clearance.
