Position Description:
The global Information Technology (IT) Function is leading efforts to align IT and Business Strategy, leverage IT investments, and optimize end to end business processes and associated information integration technologies. Through these efforts, IT helps to improve the competitive position of Corning's businesses through IT enabled processes. IT also delivers Information Technology applications, infrastructure, and project services in a cost efficient manner to Corning worldwide.
Scope of Position:
The ITSD ERP Engineering group provides support to Corning globally, including NAFTA, South America, Asia Pacific, EMEA and other locations throughout the world. This position supports and is involved with all SAP Projects including ECC, APO/SCM, CRM, GTS, EBP/SRM, BW, SolMan and Mobility. Projects are both technical and functional in nature.
Day to Day
Responsibilities:
The Engineering Manager guides the activities of a global workforce including direct and indirect employees. This individual will also assist Project Managers and BUIT in estimating and Project initiation, they will also provide the resources for Project and Base activity. They will evaluate overall demand and supply of resources and will adjust as needed. The Engineering Manager will appoint Technical Leads for projects and will coach/assist as needed. They will stay abreast of all present in upcoming activities and ensure adherence to internal policies and procedures and successful completion of Project activities. They will work with AFS team members ensuring proper System availability, performance and status. Additionally they will stay abreast of the changes in SAP/ERP technology and the potential application.
The Engineering Manager will be working for and reporting to the Global ERP Manager. The projects that they will engage in will be from all Corning Divisions and Staff groups, therefore, they must be able and willing to engage multiple groups in a timely and courteous manner.
Travel Requirements:
Travel domestic and international approximately 15-20%
